Another record breaking World Poker Tour event
The WPT Prime Main Event in Taiwan crushed the previous record for the largest Prime tour stop set earlier this year.
After a summer of record-breaking fields in the World Series of Poker the World Poker Tour is back to smashing them too.
The WPT Prime series, the smaller buy-in festivals from the World Poker Tour, has been going from strength to strength. In February in Australia, the record field of 1,224 was set, and it has just been broken.
1,359 entries for the WPT Prime Taiwan Main Event this week. The tournament was won by Seonguk Huh of South Korea after he defeated Yannick Lenoard of France heads-up for TWD 6,139,800 ($197,741). It was a very international finale with players from Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Spain among the final nine.
There has been a bigger field under the Prime mantle, but that was the WPT Prime Championship event in Vegas last year that boasted 5,430 entries. This was the biggest event on the main Prime tour.
There are still two more Prime stops in Liechtenstein and Madrid, before heading to Vegas for the WPT World Championship in December.
