'Coenaldinho7' wins WCOOP Main Event
Belgian defies the odds to claim a $1.3M score following a four-way deal at the final table.
Despite starting yesterday's massive WCOOP Main Event final table as the shortest stack, 'Coenaldinho7' will wake up today as the new world champion of online poker.
The Belgian amateur walked away $1.3M richer in the early hours this morning after defeating Polish PokerStrategist ImChosenOne ('AlwaysiNduCe' on PokerStars) heads-up.
The final top prize was slightly less than the initially posted $1.7M because a deal was agreed between them, Canadian Micro Millions winner 'Nolet20' and another Belgian in 'beertjes79' during 4-handed play.
'Nolet20', although he ultimately finished third, had the biggest stack at that stage and locked up over $1.2M in negotiations. 'Coenaldinho7' took $1.1M, ImChosenOne a million straight and short stack 'beertjes79' $800,000; leaving $200,000 and the bracelet to play for.
The finalisation of the deal also produced this piece of celebratory chat gold from 'Coenaldinho7':
"I'm gonna wake my girlfriend, she hates poker...
...That's about to change."
She'll be even more infatuated with the game if she stayed up to watch, as her partner earned a further $200K with this mighty river card in what proved to be the tournament's final hand:
Overnight leader Kostritsyn out in 8th
The biggest surprise of the evening, despite the heroics of 'Coenaldinho7', came in the form of Russian poker heavyweight Alexander 'joiso' Kostritsyn only managing to out last one player.
The high stakes pro started Day 3 in first place with just under a fifth of the chips in play, but crashed out prematurely in 8th place after his massive bluff with 9-high was snapped off on the river by ImChosenOne, who had expertly disguised a flopped set of tens.
Kostritsyn will undoubtedly be bitterly disappointed with how his tournament ended after such a promising second day's play, but will still have a tidy $150,000 with which to console himself.
