KTU ousts Junglemandan

It was the final opening match of PokerStrategy.com's Heads-Up Championship and the result was one that very few people would have predicted.

After watching his fellow competitors battle it out during the week, KTU was probably not looking forward to his confrontation with Junglemandan last night.

Indeed, when you're facing one of the best heads-up players in the world it's never going to be an easy ride.

However, you don't get to become one of the poker community's most respected players by bowing down to someone's reputation and, after battling back-and-forth, KTU managed to triumph over the mighty Dan Cates.

As expected the match wasn't easy and it could have gone either way, but in the end KTU emerged from the match with a $180 profit after 90 minutes of play.

The remaining four players will now have a few days to rest before oblioo and Internet contest the semi-final on December 3rd.

Nadal to debut in ESCOOP

Since signing for PokerStars, Rafa Nadal has notable by his absence. Having joined the site's pro roster as a novice he's, understandably, been honing his skills before making his first proper appearance at the felt.

Indeed, with a coach helping him to make 3-bets as good as his backhands, Rafa is now ready to make his assault on the poker world during Spain's SCOOP series.

The 26 year old will square off against some of Spain's toughest players in the €200 ESCOOP main event on December 9th.

Also registered for the event is fellow tennis ace, Boris Becker, which would make for an interesting heads-up battle if the cards were fall in the right way.

146 started and now just six remain in the battle for the WPT's Mazagan title and $168,207.

At the star of the day Clement Beauvois was the runaway chip leader and he didn't move far from the top as the field shrunk.

However, for all his efforts on Day 3, he couldn't end the penultimate session on top and his 668,000 stack was left trailing the 1,940,000 chips of Davidi Kitai.

The Belgian player looks in an extremely comfortable position, however, he faces some tough competition in the form of Beauvois and Bruno Fitoussi.

They made me do it

3, 2, 1 - Bungee

A few weeks ago we brought you news of Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier leaping  from the highest bungee jump in the world and in a recent blog post he's outlined what got him to that point.

As with most things in life, the daring feat came about because he was talked into it by his friends.

After discussing the jump whilst at a dinner with some fellow poker pros, "ElkY" says that he "basically got blackmailed by the whole team".

With the pressure mounting he finally agreed, but a few days before his freefall he certainly wasn't a picture of calm.

Indeed, according to his blog, he "lost some sleep over it" and was "feeling scared to death of being that high off the ground and letting go".

The story has a happy ending, though, and he concludes the post by thanking everyone who pushed him into conquering his fears and making the jump.
