Kara Scott gets engaged

Kara to become Mrs Rizzo

From a recent PokerNews article it's emerged that Kara Scott recently got engaged to her Italian boyfriend Giovanni Rizzo.

Having dropped a subtle hint on April 10 when she tweeted: "Ah, Venice. You've always been good to me. #LaBellaVita", Kara publically thanked everyone for their kind wishes, yesterday.

After stating that she was "very happy", she explained that the messages of congratulations had left her feeling "really moved".

After a year of being together, Giovanni made his proposal in Venice (the place where they first kissed) during the recent WPT event.

A date for the wedding has yet to be announced, but with Giovanni also being a professional poker player, it's likely the couple will want to avoid as many important tournaments as they can.

UKIPT's mini series starts today

PokerStars' live roster added another tournament to its list with the start of the first UKIPT Series earlier today.

Following the success of UKIPT so far, the creation of a low buy-in event is designed to give recreational players a chance to compete in a scaled down version of the main event.

Taking place over three days, including two Day 1s (Friday and Saturday) and a Day 2, the opening £250+£25 tournament will conclude this Sunday.

In addition to prize money and ranking points, each UKIPT Series winner will be invited to play in the Champion of Champions event at the end of the regular season.

The new tournaments will take place inside PokerStars LIVE, London, and the opening event will feature both Liv Boeree and Jake Cody.

Hellmuth takes a dive

Phil Hellmuth likes to make grand entrances, but during today's WSOP APAC Main Event he caused a stir in a very different way.

Whilst seated at his chair contemplating his next move, something came over Hellmuth and without warning he was on the floor.

A miscalculated reshuffle had caused him to miss his seat and land flat on the floor in the middle of the poker room.

The bang as he hit the floor was enough to catch everyone's attention, including Jason Koon who was able to capture the moment on camera (right).

High stakes corner

Cates on top

On a day where six figure profits were hard to come by, Daniel Junglemandan Cates made a rare appearance at the top of the high stakes leaderboard.

Despite being one of the best online cash game players in the world, Daniel has been focusing on live poker since Black Friday put a lock on a large portion of his finances.

However, in the last 24 hours he managed to bank $68,338 to edge ahead of Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies ($65,796) on the daily leaderboard.

In contrast to that day's winners, "wilhasha" and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom couldn't improve their bankrolls during yesterday's session.

While "wilhasha" topped the loss table with -$101,126 performance, Blom's $82,338 loss put his annual profit down to $2,590,450 from a recent high of $4 million.
