PokerStars LIVE Macau opened its doors for the first time late last week with its first official tournament: the Macau Cup.
Situated inside the City of Dreams Casino, the new poker room welcomed a record-breaking 334 players to the festival's opening event and a further 310 for the second scheduled tournament.
The 334 runners for Event 1 made it the largest side event in Macau's poker history and marked an impressive start to PokerStars' latest venture in Asia.
Commenting on the popularity of the Macau Cup, PokerStars' Robert Lim said: “We're ecstatic about our start, but no doubt the record we want to break is 635 unique players for the Red Dragon.”
Sebok hackers sentenced

Two men who tried to blackmail Joe Sebok by hacking into his account and stealing nude images of him have been sentenced to time in prison.
Back in 2010, Tyler Schrier and Keith James Hudson illegally obtained access to a host of professional poker player's email accounts, including Sebok's, in an attempt to extort money from them.
By threatening to post the lewd images on the internet, the hackers hoped to make thousands of dollars from Sebok and the other pros whose details they had stolen.
According to Sebok's testimonial, the incident "instantly damaged [his] ability to sustain [his] livelihood" and meant he couldn't continue his regular level of participation in the poker industry.
After reviewing the evidence, Judge James Otero sentenced Schrier to 42 months in prison and Hudson to two years behind bars.

Annie Duke might be reviled in the poker industry, but in the business seminar world it seems she's somewhat of a hit.
In a recent article on BizJournals, Duke has been described as someone able to offer corporate training whilst sounding like a cognitive psychologist.
During a talk at World Café last week, Duke explained that poker players and business owners often fail to improve because they don't learn from their bad decisions.
She also offered interested listeners an insight into her own business past, stating:
"I had a business go into chapter 11 last year and given the information that I had, I think I made pretty good decisions along the way".

Ben "Bttech86" Tollerene became yesterday's biggest high stakes winner after banking $318,277.
Thanks to a successful 2,430 hands of virtual poker, the American pro managed to finish the day ahead of Viktor "Isildur1" Blom ($255,448) and "n0d1ceb4by" ($103,435).
At the other end of the profit spectrum, "kagome kagome" was unable to continue his recent winning form and slumped to a $204,055 loss.
That deficit was enough to put him ahead of "jama-dharma" (-$196,031) and "FaKeOrReal" (-$187,137) on the daily loss chart.
