Salsberg creating new poker show

Matt Salsberg is a writer - by his own admission, he's "a writer that plays way too much poker".

This year's WPT Paris winner and creator of US TV show Weeds has been travelling across Europe since September. After finishing 9th at EPT San Remo, he took some time to talk to PokerListings about a new poker show he's creating.

Based on a group of poker players, the show will be a comedy that follows them as they "travel the circuit playing poker". Tinged with a hint of Entourage-style realism, the show is still in production but Salsberg is keen not to fall into the trap many poker programmes and shows have fallen into:

"I think sometimes we are falling into the trap of trying to reach a larger audience – and this means that you end up making a movie that has some romance in it. I don't know if you want to talk about that movie Lucky You with Drew Barrymore because, yeah, that wasn't that good."

EPT San Remo live

This year's EPT San Remo will come to a close today and you can catch all the action live thanks to PokerStars.tv.

Commencing at 16:00 CET, the final flourish of cards from Italy will be broadcast across the internet and be accompanied by commentary from Joe Stapleton and James Hartigan.
 
When the action kicks off a total of eight countries will be represented. Leading the way is Canadian Jason Lavellee with 5,545,000 chips and he's closely followed by Frenchman Ludovic Lacay on 5,366,000.

Randy and his trophy

It's been almost 12 months since Randy Lew completed his biggest live poker achievement to date, and to mark the occasion he's been busy producing one of his uniquely styled videos.

Posted on PokerStars' blog, The Story of Randy Lew and his APPT Macau Trophy is an intimate portrayal of the relationship between Randy and his trophy.

Threaded throughout the video is an undeniable element of sadness, as the budding relationship could be brought to an end if Randy can't manage to successfully defend his APPT title in Macau next month.

High stakes corner

It was a relatively tame day at the virtual felt yesterday, as the two biggest winners of the day barely managed to surpass the $100,000 mark.

"wilhasha" banked the most money after securing $108,715 over the course of 1,088 hands; "limmouse" scooped the second biggest profit of the day, $102,831, in just 597. This figure put them almost $10,000 ahead of Jens Kyllonen who won $95,602.

At the other end of the spectrum, "The Liar" couldn't find a way to make any money and dropped $103,479.

Also feeling the force of negative variance was "Chung ho" who lost $87,623 in a mere 160 hands.
