Sharks infest the WPT

After five days of play just six players are left standing on the cusp of WPT glory. Having carved their way through 616 players, the final few are now just a few bets away from taking home the title and $500,000.

Leading the way with a commanding chip stack is Josh Hale (7,325,000), but he won't have things all his own way as he's flanked by some tough players, including: Jeff Madsen (1,030,000), Max Steinberg (1,020,000), Greg Mueller (3,490,000) and Ali Eslami (2,900,000).

While the WPT's latest event is coming to an end, a new relationship is just about to start thanks to a partnership with Blue Shark Optics.

Starting in 2013 the eyewear manufacturers will feature heavily in WPT broadcasts and will have representatives present at events across the world.

A number of pros, including PokerStrategist Jonathan jonathanlittle Little will also be sporting Blue Shark products.

A new web series is about to launch entitled: Game Theory. The online drama features a down on his luck rounder who is struggling to earn a living after Black Friday.

Having moved back to his parents' house, he sets out on a mission to rebuild his bankroll in various live cash games and, according to the creator's description, "the stakes are high as he puts his skills to the test."

Rettenmaier on success

Since becoming one of Party Poker's pros, Marvin xcrash154 Rettenmaier has gone on an impressive winning streak.

His first outing with his new sponsor saw him take down the WPT World Championship, before going on to scoop the very next event in Cyprus.

Winning back-to-back titles has not only earned Marvin almost $1.5 million from just two tournaments, it's made him one of the most feared players at the table.

So what does it take to become as good as Marvin? According to his latest blog the answer is: winning.

In order to improve you need to play and as Marvin puts it: "The winner spends the most time at the table, sees the most hands, and gets more experience than anyone else."

Success = success

High stakes corner

Terje "Terken89" Augdal leapt to the top of the high stakes charts yesterday thanks to a $347,171 win.

The Norwegian player played just over 1,500 hands and managed to finish ahead of Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies who banked $211,338.

In contrast, "patpatman" saw the most money disappear from their bankroll thanks to a $436,014 loss. Their loss was twice as much as Gus "broksi" Hansen who dropped $205,621 over the course of 3,184 hands.
