Duhamel Joins Team Pokerstars Pro

WSOP 2010 Main Event Champion Jonathan Duhamel has joined PokerStars' elite team of pros. PokerStars have sponsored players who ended up Main Event winners three years running and Duhamel takes his place as the latest.

Jonathan Duhamel shipped the world's largest tournament in 2010 for $8,944,310 besting a field of 7,319 players and writing himself into the history books.

Like Joe Cada and Peter Eastgate the two years before him, he was sponsored by PokerStars in the WSOP Main Event and it was only a matter of time before he was officially asked to join Team PokerStars Pro.

The first Canadian to ever win the WSOP Main Event will be jetting round the world courtesy of PokerStars to major tournaments, flying the flag for the poker giants and doing his utmost to ship another big one.

"I want to be playing the biggest tournaments in the world," Duhamel said. "I'm going to do my best to pull off another big score."

Duhamel's story

Duhamel's been making a good living from online cash games for a few years now and first appeared on the tournament radar when he placed tenth at the EPT Prague 2008. After some silence the WSOP 2010 was massive for Duhamel. He cashed in a $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Six-Handed event, then finished in the top 15 in a $2,500 No Limit Hold'em event, for a combined cash of $43,000. He then set his sights on the Main Event and walked away with poker's most prestigious prize. The Main Event Bracelet and a cool $9 million.
