EPT: Official Chip Counts After Day 1

With the official chip counts, the chip leader of Day 1 has also been determined. The Swede Erik Sjödin put himself on top of the remaining field of 158 players.

The United Kingdom was the strongest force with 149 starters as it was expected from the hosting nation, followed by 84 US-American players. On rank 3 of the country ranking was France which was represented by 48 players. The Swedes (33 participants) and even the small kingdom of Denmark (26 participants) were in front of Germany, which had a rather average representation with 25 players.

There was some insecurity about Oscar Schweinbarth's country of origin. At first, he was listed up as German in the chip count, then as Swede, now once more as German.

£1,000,000 for Rank 1

Meanwhile, the tournament officials also announced the prize money for the top position. Thus the winner will be able to take a nice round £1,000,000 back home. The further payouts have not yet been published.
