News: High Stakes Action: Dwan Takes Big Swings

Tom Dwan keeps swinging between huge profit and huge losses this year, how will it end not even he knows probably. Meanwhile, Patrik Antonius recorded another successful session in the durrrr Challenge.

Dwan (pictured right) is an amazingly aggressive player, even for Gus Hansen's
standards, and when these two decide to play a HU PLO session,
fireworks are bound to happen.

The HU PLO session between Dwan and Hansen featured the Great Dane
taking an early lead, at one point going up by one million against
Dwan, but then the situation turned completely around. Dwan started to
take one pot after another, including one of the biggest pots of their
session worth $672,353.

The action in that hand began with Dwan raising to $3,000,
Hansen re-raised to $9,000, Dwan made it $27,000 and Hansen called. The
flop came , Hansen checked, Dwan bet $37,200 and Hansen called. The turn brought , Dwan checked, Hansen bet $83,000 and Dwan made the call.

The river came , Hansen moved all-in for 202,854 and Dwan made the call with his remaining $188,977. Hansen showed but Dwan turned over for a straight flush and scooped a hefty $672,353 pot.

After that massive pot, Dwan simply ran over Hansen and he ended the
session up by $4,000. However, this was not all of the action from Dwan
for that day. At the same time, he also made profit against Phil Ivey.
By the end of their match, Ivey shipped $500,000 to Dwan.

antonius takes down another session

Even though he lost $500,000 in their latest encounter, Phil Ivey (pictured left) is
still looking good because Dwan lost to him $600,000 a few days
earlier. Perhaps the reason why Dwan lost then was in the fact that he
was also playing against Patrik Antonius in the durrrr Challenge at the same time.

Dwan and Antonius exchanged 874 hands, which was enough for Antonius to
extend his lead to slightly over $447,000. At one point, Antonius
reached a $600,000 lead but Dwan managed to minimize his losses for the
day. The two most important pots of their session were worth $163,595
and $157,596 with Dwan taking the first one and Antonius the second.

The hand for $163,595 began with Dwan raising to $1,200, Antonius re-raising to $3,600 and Dwan making the call. The flop came

, Antonius bet $6,000, Dwan raised to $19,200 and Antonius called.

The turn brought , Antonius bet $45,600, Dwan moved all-in for $58,998 and Antonius called. The river came and Dwan showed for a straight which was enough to take the pot down because Antonius held for two pair, jacks and fives.

The second big hand of the session played for $157,596 saw Antonius making a raise to $1,200, Dwan re-raising to $3,600 and Antonius making the call. The flop came , Dwan bet $4,800, Antonius raised to $21,600 and Dwan called.

THe turn brought , Dwan checked, Antonius bet $50,400, Dwan moved all-in for $53,598 and Antonius called. The river came and Dwan showed while Antonius revealed for a flush and took down the pot.

They still have little bit less than 35,000 hands to play in the durrrr Challenge and we will hopefully see more action from them during the breaks between the WSOP events. Patrik Antonius has completely turned the tables around since the beginning of the Challenge and Tom Dwan is yet to find a way to fight his way into the lead he hasn't seen for a while now.
