Jason Mercier wins 3rd SCOOP event in a week
Can anyone stop the PokerStars pro in this year's Player of the Series race?
Jason Mercier is known for going on hot streaks, and this one may just be his greatest. Last night he won his third SCOOP High title in a week.
Having previously won the $2,100 NL 5-Card Draw and $2,100 Badugi titles last week, he found himself at the final table of the $2,100 No Limit 4-Max event last night.
He was joined by another prolific SCOOP veteran, Calvin Anderson, who won his sixth career SCOOP title last week.
But it was to be Mercier's day, when he topped the 398-runner event to take down $178,457.73 after a heads-up deal with Ryan 'HITTHEPANDA' Franklin.
This also puts him light years ahead in the Player of the Series rankings with 435 points (Ahead of Andy McLEOD who is second with 310 points) with one week to go in the series.
This means Mercier has six career 'COOP' titles, to go with his two WSOP bracelets and his EPT trophy. It also clearly makes him one of the favourites for anyone's WSOP Fantasy Team going into the series at the end of the month.
