LAPT San José: Ryan Fee Grabs The Title

The US American cash game pro Ryan Fee won the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) Season 2 in San José, and took $285,773 back home.

At noon local time, the eight finalists met at the final table. At this moment, the 20-year old Ryan Fee was already the chip leader of the last day with 481,000 in chips.

Maria Stern the first to leave

After Maria Stern already stole the blinds several times with her pre-flop all-ins, her last push was called by Jeffrey Petronack. The female WSOP bracelet winner showed , but had to submit to her opponent's
as the board didn't help her. The first woman at a final table of a LAPT event thus finished eighth and earned $24,425 for this feat.

The Ryan Fee Show with a Royal Flush

With the elimination of Claus Rasmussen on rank 7 for $34,195, the chip leader so far lost his position to Joel Micka for a while, but then the US American Fee really turned up the heat. After a few pre-flop raises, he was all-in against Petronack. Fee showed , Petronack held . The dealer revealed the flop: . The turn brought the .

After Maria Mayerinck's royal flush on Day 1 – which didn't save her from being eliminated later on – this was already the second royal flush of the tournament, and once again with spades. The on the river gave Petronack a straight flush on the board, but he still had to join the rail.

A few minutes later, Fee was again involved in a big pot, this time against Andrew Chen. Once more, both parties were already heading for a showdown pre-flop as they both went all-in. Fee was a clear underdog with his pocket against Chen's .
However, Lady Luck was on the US American's side when the flopped gut shot turned into a straight on the turn. Within only a few minutes, the lucky Fee had already eliminated the second player.

About twenty minutes later, Jesus Bertoli pushed his remaining 85,000 chips across the line. Once again, it was the chip leader Fee who called the short stack, and was able to win the showdown with against Bertoli's with a flopped two pairs.

And then it were only three

After this spectacular run, Fee held 1,428,000 in chips, followed by Micka (582,000) and Brent Sheirbon (122,000).

The last three players took a short break before returning to the table. Short stack Sheirbon sat in the big blind when he countered Micka's button raise with an all-in. The raiser called the short stack, and a coin flip took place which Micka was able to win with his against Sheirbon's .

Heads-up

The heads-up between Ryan Fee and Joel Micka started in a rather unspectacular manner. In the first twenty minutes, not a single flop was dealt out. Each pot was won pre-flop, either by raises or re-raises.

A short time later, the final hand took place: After a raise to 40,000 chips, Fee re-raised with to 105,000. Following a short hesitation, Micka re-re-raised to 300,000 with , and Fee pushed his whole stack into the middle of the table.

Micka called, and the decisive coin flip for the $285,773 began. The dealer laid down the flop of , and so didn't help Fee yet, but gave him a few more outs: Any T, any J or any A would help him get the win. The turn brought the . The dealer reached for the last card, and Fee hit his on the river.

After a good run and an aggressive play, Fee was declared the winner of the LAPT San José and took $285,773 back home. Micka was pleased with his $148,993.
