Jan Skampa becomes the first EPT winner from the Czech Republic and took home €682,000 for his efforts. PokerStrategists Allanon, FA_Morgoth and Statistican finished in the money.

With a total of 586 players signing up, the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour in Prague has become the richest poker tournament ever in the Czech Republic. Having a contribution of €5,500 from each player, the tournament generated a prize pool of €2,842,100.

Local favourite Jan Skampa emerged as the winner after defeating a multinational field of players at the final table. Two Swedes and one representative, each from the Czech Republic, Israel, Italy, Germany, France and Ireland were present. For his win, Skampa earned a sweet €682,000 payday.

Three PokerStrategists finish in the money

Of the 80 players who were awarded a minimum payout of €8,000, three of them were PokerStrategists. Team PokerStrategy.com member Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher finished in 39th place and won €11,300 while PokerStrategist, while Florian "fa_morgoth" Langmann finished in 46th place to earn €10,300. The PokerStrategist who went the furthest was Bastian "statistican" Trachte.

Statistican was the sole PokerStrategists to survive Day 3 but was unfortunately one of the first ones to go out on that day. He was eliminated in 23rd place and earned €15,500. The other Team PokerStrategy.com members who took part were Tim "Nazgul" Kahlmeyer who was the unlucky bubble boy, Simon " ScHnibL0r" Münz and Konstantin "Bongbob" Bücherl who made his debut for the team.

The event's winner Skampa went into the final table with a slight chip lead and managed to hold on to it all the way to the end. He eliminated Eyal Avitan of Israel after a three hour long heads-up duel. With this win, Skampa becomes the first ever player from the Czech Republic to win an EPT event. In fact, none of his compatriots have ever made it into an EPT final table.
