Main Event Breaks Single Day Record, $8.5m for First Place

Last night we saw a record for a single-day field at the World Series of Poker Main Event, with 3,418 players competing on Day 1c to bring the total field for 2012 to 6,598 with $8,527,982 awaiting this year's champion.
