Mega series success stories

Both WCOOP and Powerfest have been and gone and both can be safely declared a runaway success.

As both this year’s PokerStars WCOOP and partypoker’s Powerfest pass into history, the raw data left in their wake show that it’s been a bumper harvest for both online poker powerhouses.

First up WCOOP 2017. The numbers were awesome and record breaking $90.6m was paid out to over 107,000 unique players across 164 tournaments. It also boasted the biggest WCOOP Main Event in seven years, won by Steven "SvZff" van Zadelhoff who claimed more than $1.6m.

The fact that a low-level alternative ran alongside WCOOP High was an obvious contributor to the success and prize pools at this level peaked at $19.8 million, inclusive of the Low Main Event prizepool of $3.1m, over $331,000 of which went to the winner jaloviina007 of Finland.

Powerfest pays out $39.7 million

Despite being billed as the biggest Powerfest of all time with a $35m guarantee, $39,712,980 was the figure dished out to 51,482 players over 330 events.

Over said events, 296 of the winners were unique, and included one Austrian player under the name of Stikeeez who won four separate events. However, the biggest win was saved for Ben 'CowEyed' Tollerene who collected $846,772 for winning the Super High Roller.
