Online qualifier wins biggest ever Irish Open
Scottish Pro David Docherty turned a €109 satellite win into a €365,000 payday at the iconic Irish poker festival.
Keeping up with the global trend of record-breaking live poker fields, the 2023 Irish Open smashed its own Main Event records as well as the one for the largest event held in Ireland.
There were 2,491 entries in total, which surpassed the previous live record for the 2022 event which had 2,040.
The final table included Irish poker legend Andy Black and former partypoker Head of Poker Tom Waters.
It was Scottish poker pro David Docherty, however, who took it down for €365,000 after defeating Ireland's Declan Rice heads-up.
Docherty managed to qualify for this event for just €109, giving him one of the great poker ROIs and one of the most coveted titles in European poker.
