Poker player films himself winning The Deal Jackpot

Irish pro Marc Macdonnell was recording when he took down a $413,197 jackpot in the PokerStars loyalty promotion.

If you are unfamiliar, The Deal at PokerStars is a loyalty promotion with a progressive jackpot. You can use 7 StarsCoin to be dealt a random hand, and if you make a royal flush, you get dealt into a special Jackpot Round where you spin a roulette wheel, where you can win the whole jackpot. All players who played The Deal within 12 hours of a jackpot win also get a share of it.

This week, the progressive jackpot had grown quite large, well over $800,000 when it was hit. The winner was Irish poker pro Marc Macdonnell, which we know because the screen name gets shared by PokerStars of the winner, and also because he filmed himself as it happened:

He won $413,197 for getting a Royal Flush, then followed that up with a big spin on the wheel. Speaking to David Lappin afterwards, he said:

When it landed there I quickly triple-checked that the money was in the cashier. It was and then I was just in a daze. It would have been a great ‘punked’ moment if there was a camera because I absolutely lost it.

At the time of writing, The Deal jackpot is up to $28,412.
