PokerStars Americas Cup Of Poker Launched
The PokerStars Americas Cup of Poker will start on July 27. Player from all over the Americas will play for national pride and a share of the lucrative $250,000 prize pool.
The 13 countries along with 3 Wildcard countries are divided into four groups. Group A consists of USA, Ecuador, Mexico and Wildcard. Group B is Canada, Colombia, Uruguay and another Wildcard. Chile, Venezuela, Peru, and Costa Rica make up Group C while the last Wildcard along with Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay make up Group D. To qualify as one of the Wildcard countries, players from outside the thirteen countries listed can participate in qualifier freerolls from July 24-26 at 21:00 ET.
Top 2 Countries From Each Group Qualify For The Finals
Each week, predetermined matches will be held between the 16 participating countries. At the end of the 3 weekly rounds, the top two countries with the most wins in each group will be eligible to participate in the live final round in Bariloche. To score points for their countries, players only have to sign up to play in the Americas Cup of Poker daily tournaments.
The daily events include freerolls, $0.20 and $5.50 buy-in tournaments. The top 100 players in each tournament will then score points for their countries. During the 3 week period from July 27 to August 16, the daily events are scheduled at 20:30 ET for the freeroll, 21:00 ET for the $0.20 and 21:30 ET for the $5.50. To spice up the competition, each national team will be assigned a "Team PokerStars" Pro.
Individual players will also have to compete for a chance to play in the live finals as only the top 5 players from each country can be a part of their national team. The individual rankings like the country ranking are determined from the cumulative points collected during the weekly group stage matches.
Round 1 of matches will be played from July 27-August 2. Round 2 from August 3-9 and Round 3 from August 10-16.
