PokerStars Caribbean Adventure 2008

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure commenced the season of the European Poker Tour 2008. 1,136 participants got together in the Bahamas and cause a prize pool of over 8 million USD. Simon „Schnibl0r“ Münz also takes part.

PokerStars just commenced the EPT season 2008 on the edge of the generously defined border of Europe. The Atlantis Resort & Casino on Paradise Island is the host of the PCA and guarantees a unique location. 1,136 players (EPT record) paid the buy-in of $8,000. The prize pool is expected to be more than 8 million dollar.

Simon Münz, commonly known as Schnibl0r takes part as well. Schnib reached the highest limits online and called attention to himself on these limits. In the PCA, Simon has proved that he is also good at live tournaments. As the best German player, he will start day 2 of the PCA on the 66th place. He will start day two with 80,000 chips and therefore still has a couple of options in the tournament.

Many international stars also entered the tournament. Among others, Soren Kongsgaard, Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Joe Hachem, Vanessa Rouss, Dario Minieri, Bertrand „ElkY" Grospellier, Kristian Kjondal, Erik Seidel, Juha Helppi, Josh Arieh, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer participated in the tournament.

Raymer was eliminated very early; he was one of the first who had to leave on day 2B. Joe Hachem was also eliminated very early. Erik Seidel had to pack his bags and Dario Minieri was also one of the early victims of the tournament. Daniel Negreanu had a solid first day and accumulated 93,000 chips. Bertrand ElkY Grospellier could accumulate about 125,000 chips and Moneymaker starts day 2 with about 50,000 chips.

Brian Lindsay from the USA is chip leader with about 225,000 chips. The Briton Asa Smith is only a heartbeat behind Brian. Julio Marines is in third place with about 185,000 chips. Anyone with about 140,000 chips was represented in the top 10.

It is obvious what kind of foothold online poker is for live tournaments nowadays. 214 of the 478 players who reached day 2, qualified through PokerStars satellites.
