Ren Lin no longer suspended by the WSOP

Just seven weeks after his suspension for ghosting an online GGPoker final table, Ren Lin is playing at WSOP Paradise.

Back in October, a high-profile GGPoker ambassador was suspended from the World Series of Poker. Seven weeks later, he is back playing in bracelet events. 

Ren Lin was suspended from WSOP events for ghosting another player in the GGMillion$ online event. He was disqualified during a WSOP-C event, with no word on whether his endorsement deal was terminated. 

The player he gave advice to, "RealOA" was banned for life. Lin claimed at the time that he didn't realise he was giving real-time advice, and thought his friend was asking him for advice after a hand was played. However, another player at the final table. "BuzzCut", said Ren told him it was "quite common and normal" for players to get advice at online final tables. 

An olive branch?

Now, just seven weeks later, he is at WSOP Paradise playing in bracelet events. If you check out his live cashes record, he cashed in 124th place in the $2,500 Mystery Bounty event, and at the time of writing, he is playing in the Triton Main Event.  

Last week, the WSOP had a sanctioned chop in a Triton co-branded event, which appears to be only allowed because it was outside of Las Vegas and under the Triton banner. Lin, however, has been playing non-Triton-branded events, so it appears he is no longer banned by any part of the WSOP or GGPoker. 

On the WSOP+ app his avatar is his GGPoker avatar, which also suggests he is still an ambassador for the site. 

Bans on GGPoker will get you banned at the WSOP, and vice versa, since the WSOP was acquired by GGPoker. However, GGPoker also have an occasional olive branch initiative for previously banned players to appeal their case. A lot of people suspected Lin's ban was a token gesture and that he would be reinstated in time for next year's WSOP. Most people would probably be surprised that he is back at the tables after less than two months.
