Two Diamond Club Elite chasers rake $50k in a month
We recap some stories you may have missed including more bad news for Phil Ivey and David Peters bosses the Super High Rollers again.
The race is on
It's only been a month since partypoker announced Diamond Club Elite, the VIP status level worth up to 60% rakeback, and the race has already heated up.
The first two players to get to the level will also win 100% rakeback for the rest of the year, and partypoker confirmed to us that two players have already raked $50,000 each in a month. "SunnyBooy" and "sp0ubledy" are both a quarter of the way there playing mostly Spins.
To put it in perspective, the fastest ever SuperNova Elite (the equivalent level formerly from PokerStars) was Martijn "'Quadchrazs" Ardon who got there in 52 days in 2015.
Peters does the USPO Double
The US Poker Open concluded with its $100,000 Main Event over the weekend and it saw its winner take down the coveted series title too.
David Peters does what he does often, taking down the Super High Roller title for $1,320,000 and in doing so he topped the overall leaderboard.
He had a 5th and a 2nd place finish in two previous events that week which was enough for him to be crowned Player of the Series.
Edge-sorting Ivey to become a movie
It's been a terrible year for Phil Ivey so far and he probably won't like this either. The story of his edge-sorting tribulations with casino partner Cheung Yin Sun may become a movie.
'The Baccaret Queen' is in development and being touted as a tale of "high stakes cunning and revenge". It likely will tell the tale of their edge-sorting attempts at Crocfords and the Borgata which cost Ivey millions.
