WPT Grand Prix de Paris & WPT Malta Previews
Find out about the next two European legs of the World Poker Tour, both taking place in September, and how you can qualify for them.
The WPT Merit Cyprus Classic is over, but we already have two more major European stops on World Poker Tour Season XI to look forward to. In September the tour will be going to both Paris, then Portomaso in Malta, back-to-back.
WPT Grand Prix de Paris
The most iconic European leg of the World Poker Tour returns to the legendary Aviation Club de France between September 10-15. Who can forget the two final tables made by motormouth Tony G in this event, which established him as one of the most dangerous trash talkers in the game?
The €7,500 Main Event is a re-entry tournament this year. Last year, 312 players entered this event and Matt Waxman emerged victorious, taking down a first prize of €500,000.
The event takes place at the Aviation Club, which is located in the heart of the Champs-Elysées in Paris. This week the full side event schedule has been released, which includes Omaha, high roller events, and even satellites to the World Series of Poker Europe.
WPT Malta
Returning to Malta for the second time, immediately after the WPT's Paris event, is this €3,300 re-entry Main Event running from September 16-20. Last year, this tournament saw November Niner Matt Giannetti take down the title for €200,000.
It takes place at the luxurious Portomaso Casino, on a Marina in St Julian's, Malta. Malta is one of the most popular and affluent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, and the standard of the locals in the casino is notoriously soft.
Qualifiers now running
You can qualify for both these events on PartyPoker and WPT Poker.
You can win a $6,500 package to WPT Malta that includes $4,200 entry, five star accommodation, and $850 spending money.
On Sundays at 14:50 ET you can win your package in a direct $350 qualifier, with feeder satellites running around the clock starting at freerolls.
Or you can win a $13,000 package to the legendary WPT Grand Prix de Paris, which includes accommodation, $1,400 spending money, and the $9,500 buy-in.
$700 direct qualifiers take place on Sundays at 15:20 ET, with feeders running 24/7.
