WPT – Ivey wins his first title!
Phily Ivey wins the WPT-Event of the L.A. Poker Classic and gets his first WPT Title. For Phil Hellmuth the journey ended with a 6th place and Nam Le managed to make it to 4th place.
Five days of playing, 655 participants, $10.000 Buy-in and a Prizepool of $6.384.000 with $1.596.100 for the first place. Those were the impressive numbers for the WPT-Event in the Commerce Casiono in Los Angeles. The field was studded with pros, and the final table featured some very strong players. Next to Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Nam Le and Quinn Do battled it out as part of the last 6.
Ivey
had been dominating the tournament for the last days and had gone to the final table as vast chip leader with 4.100.000 in chips. But also Phil Hellmuth was a solid contender for the win. After having taken some strong blows during the course of the tournament, he started a strong comeback and sat down at the final table with 2.380.000 in chips.

The Final Table
Das Final table started with a bang. Phil Ivey called in the first hand of the table and all-in from from Charles Moore for 1,5
Millionen. Moore showed AK which dominated Ivey A9. The board didn't help Ivey and Moore doubled up. Shortly afterwards Ivey lost more chips to Scott Montgomery who advanced to Chipleader.
It didn't go much better for the other Phil. After an early lost All-in vs Nam Le he was shortstacked and was first to hit the rails after being eliminated by Moore. Montgomery was not destined to hold his chiplead for long and was the next to bust out just one blind level later making Moore the dominant chipleader with 5 million chips.
Then Phil Ivey turned up the heat and showed why he had come to the final table as chipleader. First he took over 3 million chips from Nam Le, and then pulled home another 2 million chip pot from Quinn do. With over 7 million in chips he had not only re-taken his chiplead but also extended it.
After Ivey sent Nam Le and Charles Moore to the rails, he went into the heads up with nearly 11 million in chips against Quinn Do, who held about 2,5 million. The decision came only 2 hands later. With a full house on the turn Ivey put Quinn all-in. After a long period of consideration he called with two-pair and was already drawing dead.
