WSOP Event #9: Allanon85 Falls On Day 1
Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher joined the action on Day 1 of the $1,500 buy-in NL Hold'em Six-handed event. Nearly 1,500 players showed up for the tournament and only 105 of them made it through the day.
The WSOP Event #9, $1,500 buy-in No Limit Hold'em Six-handed kicked off with a total of 1,459 players in it. With the prize pool of nearly $2 million, many notables entered the tournament, including Ivan Demidov, Justin Bonomo, Peter Eastgate, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, T.J. Cloutier (pictured right) and others.
With the players receiving some extra space at the tables due to the six-handed play, it also meant that nearly every table in the Amazon, Brasilia and Miranda rooms was taken. Most of the tables even started the day with five-handed play, leaving the sixth seat for the many expected late entrants.
The 2008 Irish Open champ Neil Channing was one of the first players to
hit the rail. Channing's last hand saw his pocket sevens going up
against pocket jacks. The board didn't help the British pro and he was
out early on. Justin Bonomo, jonathanlittle and Tim West were also gone
before the end of Level 3.
Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher (pictured left) joined the action on Day 1 of the Event #9 and his firstimpression was that he got a good table draw. As the play progressed,
his impression was fairly approved because his opponents played quite
strange. With all the weird moves they did, he felt he had an edge at
the table, but then he ran into a troublesome hand.
With the blinds 25/50, action folded to Allanon who raised from the cutoff to 150 with 
. The button called and the rest of the table folded. The flop came 
, Allanon bet 250, his opponent raised to 500 and Allanon called.
The turn was

Allanon checked, his opponent bet 500 and Allanon decided to represent
a flush and check-raise to make his opponent fold a weak pair.
Unfortunately, his opponent made the call and with a blank card on the
river, Allanon saw no purpose in shooting another bullet. His opponent
showed K-9 off suit for two pair and took down the pot.
The failed bluff crippled Allanon down to 20 big blinds and he quickly
got back to work, re-stealing a few times to build up his chips. Soon, he
found pocket kings in front of him and decided to raise to 250 with his
2,000 stack, his executioner from the previous hand raised to 500 and
after some consideration, Allanon moved all-in.
His opponent showed A-J off suit and the flop came 8-9-T. The Poker
Gods decided to throw in a king on the turn and to wrap things up, a
queen came on the river. A perfect board for Allanon's opponent as he
shipped the new chips to his stack.
Allanon will take part in the $2,000 No Limit Hold'em Event and
hopefully make better results, if you want to find out more about the

A total of 105 players will return for Day 2 of the Event #9. They are all already in the money, as the top 144 places receive a share of the prize pool with the first place finisher being awarded $428,185. Doug Lee will enter Day 2 as the chip leader, but he not alone at the top, as others are trailing close behind him.
