WSOPE: Erik Cajelais wins Event #2

Event #2 of the World Series of Poker Europe in London is settled. The Canadian Erik Cajelais secured himself the bracelet and with it £104,677. Men 'The Master' Nguyen finished in fourth place.

Attracting 158 players, this year's WSOP Europe #2 event, a £2,500 Pot Limit Hold'em/Omaha event, took place at the Empire Casino in London.

The radiating winner from Canada could pocket a little more than one fourth of the £395,000 prize pool.

All in all, 18 ranks were paid. Well-known players like Vitaly Lunkin (17th), Howard Lederer (9th), Ian Frazer (8th) and Hoyt Corkins (7th) could cash as well, but none of them made it to the final day.

Men 'The Master' Nguyen did a better job compassing Day 3 next to only four more players, but not even he could prevent the Canadian Erik Cajelais from obtaining his first bracelet.

Cajelais outlived all the tournament's big names; besides that, he started as a shortstack into the final day but made it all the way to the chip lead. In the heads-up he prevailed against Mats Gavatin from Sweden.

By contrast, Gavatin started as a big stack but in the final duel he only had 180,000 chips left as compared to Cajelais' nearly one million. The latter could hence pretty easily make the run.

In the tournament's final hand, Cajelais held  against Gavatin's . The board showed  , so Erik Cajelais was the indisputable winner of the WSOPE 2009 event #2.
