partypoker introduce short stack cash games

Buy-in for just five big blinds in this new format for recreational players from partypoker.

This week partypoker have introduced two new formats - Fast Five and Progressive Knockout Tournaments. 

The Progressive Knockout Tournaments are much in line with those you would expect to see at other poker rooms, with the bounties increasing every time a player knocks somebody out. Currently there will be three of these tournaments a day with more being added to the schedule.

Fast Five is a new cash game format which will have a maximum buy-in of five big blinds. It is a six max format meaning that this will be a very fast and loose game. 

The minimum buy-in level is $0.25/$0.50 and currently the maximum buy-in level is $10/$20. There are also $0.50/$1 and $1/2 tables. 

Push or fold poker

As you can imagine this is essentially a push or fold format aimed at recreational players, much in the same ethos as simpler and faster short stack games like the popular Lottery SNG formats on most sites. 

This is not the first site to introduce a super short cash game format. Full Tilt have previously trialed a similar game, and 888poker and Winamax both have a version of this in their lobbies.
