discutiehandje.

Rest is std.

basically , best of ask pleni anything.
Spoiler
Hey dude - great nickname grin
I've spoken in the thread about players tendancies to 3bet a lot but scared to 5bet all in for full stacks, this means that in spots where they can be light very often (btn vs blinds is a great example) we should look to 4bet bluff whenever we deem it to be profitable.
I posted in the thread earlier about the EV of a bluff and the EV of a 3bet. Here is the mathematical algorithm of a 4bet bluff
ev (4bet) = x* (9bb+3bb+1.5bb) - (1-x) * 19bb
The quick math to remember is that villain needs to fold to the 4bet 60% of the time to make it an immediate profitable 4bet bluff.
So what hands are good to 4bet bluff?
Often game flow can be more important than our actual cards. So if we know that villain is going to 3bet us light for a certain reason then it may be fine to 4bet 72o. If we expect the villain to only ever 5b shove or fold, then flop equity hands such as 78s become bad hands to 4bet in a vacuum as we don't get to exploit the playability out of the hands and using a hand such as A2 is going to be better and a hand such as KJo even better.
What is a blocker? So in every players range they have a combination on cards to build the range. For example:
For hands that are not a pair (i.e AK or 72) there are 16 combinations
For hands that are pairs (i.e 22/aa) there are 6 combinations
So lets say villain is going to 3bet bluff lots of random hands and then 3b/5b AQ+ AK JJ+
Given that range he has the following combinations:
AQ = 16
AK = 16
JJ = 6
QQ = 6
KK = 6
AA = 6
= 46 combinations
If we 4bet 78s vs a 5b or fold guy then we don't effect any of his value range.
Now lets look at if we have Kc Jc. We now block 4 combinations of AK, 3 combinations of JJ and 3 combinations of KK.
Meaning we reduce his value combinations from 46 to 36 by having BLOCKERS
50nl is actually a surprisingly hard limit in the grand scheme of things, people will play very cautious and tight meaning its hard to really exploit LAG opponents, I'd definitely recommend game selection as a high priority.
The playing 3bet pots topic is very player dependent. Vs bad or mediocre regs (of which there will be very many at nl50) we can do a lot of things that will be very hard to balance but still be very +ev, most of them will be aggressive adjustments.
I would first say that vs 3bets we should be 4betting a lot, 4betting all broadways as blockers vs blind 3bets seems like an initial good strategy. Many people like to 3bet a lot at smaller/nittier limits, people adjusted and 4bet a lot and risk say 20bbs, but very rarely will you find absolute lunatics who are content on constantly 5b jamming trashy hands.
Having your button and being able to play comfortably is super important, most of our profit comes from the button and alot of that is from playing vs passive players who will call pre flop but c/f lots of flops. If they know we are going to be 4betting like a complete lunatic, generally they will take a passive adjustment and call more, rather than 3betting 5betting Q4s (an aggressive adjustment) so I'd definitely recommend just upping the aggresion levels one step further and really pushing the 4betting vs regs. If you do find out that they will happily 5bet jam every other hand then ok cool, won't work vs this guy but we can adjust quickly and well and widen our 4b/calling range.
I really think these guys are super exploitable pre flop in our overall game plan and really try to master this part of the game. Most of hands in poker are won with inititive and if you look at every pot you've played without initiative you're probably going to be showing a loss. Guess this means we should try to avoid playing hands without initiative.
I've done a lot of study on min 4bets. People will generally play SUPER BAD vs these raises.
Here is an example of a min 4bet.
I raise to 3bbs otb, bb 3bets to 10bb, i 4bet to 16/17 bbs.
Players at nl50 will generally have leaks and will play SUPER face up here either folding or calling their weak range (hands they initiall 3bet bluffed) or raise their reallllly good hands. Also we lay them a terrible price to fold as they have to shove another 83 BBS, rather than the normal 75 or whatever, meaning lots of the time they will jsut sigh fold/call hands like 22-88 of Axs that play SUPER terribly post flop but they think they are just getting too good of a price.
Sorry haven't gone on to flop textures here, but really want to emphasize the point of taking control and running over these regs.
Let me know if this is all crystal clear then we can move on to some flop strategies.
Min 4betting btn vs sb and SB vs BB are TOTALLY different and shouldn't be mistaken.
First of all, my favourite poker formula..
POSITION + SKILL = PROFIT
When we min 4bet on the button vs SB we entice his bluffing range to commit more money to the pot pre flop and play post flop which is so difficult./ If you 3bet K4s as a bluff and make a bad call and play a 4bet pot OOP it is going to be impossible to show a profit.
If you are in position then you can do so many more things and take initiative etc.
4bets OOP should be sized bigger, I actually made a similar mistake myself yesterday where I 4bet small oop. Lets see the hand..

Spoiler
Hey man,
The solid game plan vs somebody who:
- 3bets a lot in position
- Doesn't fold to 4bets
is to either
1) 4bet a stronger, tighter range and increase our sizings a little bit to gain more value vs a dominated range and not 4bet bluffing hands like q9, k9 that are probably dominated as its likely he is 3betting a depolarized range such as KJ/KQ etc that he now wants to see a flop with
2) 4bet and put a lot of pressure on down the streets, meaning barreling flops and turns and trying to put a lot of post flop pressure on vs weak (relatively smile ) ranges.
If you mix both of these up depending on game flow and your instinct then you won't go far wrong.
As far as playing underpairs on Ace high boards etc go, generally just take a lot of time to go over the hand.
If the board is say A33, 9, 7 and on the river he is overbetting or doing some massive bet sizing, then its likely he's bluffing as he doesn't have a very wide value range here, especially for the sizing, but vs smaller bets its likely that he could be thinly betting a10 or something.
Generally in poker you can put people into situations where if they bet they are just repping so thinly, one of the biggest mistakes small stakes players do is not value betting thinly enough, this means that if they start trying to rep 1 pair hands on the river its very likely that they can be bluffing.
To balance we can/should also add strong hands into our c/calling range, such as AA or KQ on K23 type of boards.

I have a question. You said that improving your redline is important on nl10/nl25 and good player who are looking forward to beat those limits should focus on it. I play ABC kinda weak TAG and it's hard for me to do some moves or call IP spectacular hands. For example like you did : Call resteal Bu vs Sb with A8o IP. I would 4b/fold there what were your thoughts with this hand.
Thanks man! We called the re-steal because we were getting such a good price, if I make it 2bb and he makes it 4.2bb then I'll call, if he 3bets a normal size like 6bb then I'll fold/4bet, when we are getting SUCH an insanely good price AND we are playing in position + ofc lots and lots of skill advantage then we shouldn't be keen to fold much.

2) What is your 3betting range fom SB vs. BU? What do you do with Hands like KTs, QJs JTs, QJo in SB vs. BU steal if BB is a Reg who will squeeze often.
Hi Becks
2) It all depends on opponent, but generally my strategy is to 3b or fold from out of position as I prefer to play with initiative.
If you prefer to 3bet or fold oop what do you do with Hands like ATo QTo QJo JTo that are just too weak to 3bet imo? Ofcourse it depends on Villain but you do have a default gameplan for these hands in BB vs. BU steal or?
I have Problems on Flops like 995 r with AT after defending passive. I mostly c/c but get barreld of on later streets unimproved.
Hey Becks,
Why do you think these hands are too weak to 3bet? As always it totally depends on the player, if they call a lot of 3bets then 3betting q10o may not be great and we can just make a fold and avoid playing out of position without initiative. But these hands have blockers and decent post flop playability which can for example turn good equity. Also if wer 3bet these hands it means we can barrel alot more of Qxx, Kxx, Axx boards as bluffs and put villains in "coffin" spots.
Because of your second point is the reason why calling is going to be bad, we often end up with weak/capped ranges that will struggle vs aggressive players.

- will call pairs more in BB than SB because better price/closing action.
Spoiler
vs somebody who folds to over 80% of 3bets then I am just going to 3bet always anything. k2s+ q5s+ a2o+ a2s+ j6s+ 105s etc etc as we're just showing an immediate profit by 3betting because he's folding too much/ Once he readjusts then we can change our ranges of course, if we stick with initial ranges once adjustments start then we will end up losing a lot of money.

Spoiler
4. When is it a good idea to raise your toppairs otf against the pfa? Position obv matters a lot, but would you for example raise, say KQo on a Kxxr flop, as a default against someone who is opening more than 50% from LP or SB? Or do they have to open even looser? If so where do you usually draw the line? Or do we need any particular reads before even considering it?
4) This is probably one of the biggest mistakes that I see bad regs doing and I instantly mark them a bad reg when I see it.
When a flop comes Kxx it is literally nonsensical for a reg to raise this. For example. I raise button to 2.5bbs, they defend.
I cbet 3.4bbs on K46r and they c/r me to 11bbs. In this spot I would say that I 3bet bluff to 24ish bbs close to 100% of the time.
If they have a good K such as KQ/AK they almost always 3bet pre flop, people also like to use Kx as a bluff in their 3betting range such as k9s etc, so even if they did c/r Kx here they don't have as many combos as what make sense initially.
Secondly, if a reg does raise Kx here it is very bad. Lets say that the same thing happens as above and we get to showdown and he shows K10o.
Now lets imagine 6 hands later this happens.
I raise button, he defends bb.
I cbet k48 and he calls.
Now if he is c/raising K10 wtf does this mean for his calling range? It is so fkn weak and he can barely ever be able to take 3 streets here and will always have a pocket pair.
Hope I explained this ok?

I assume he will either call any cbet or fold to any cbet, so making it bigger inflates the pot vs hands that we dominate such as all pocket pairs, whilst we are very rarely dominated. We also can't expect to get 3 streets so getting 1 big street may be very important here.

6/range constructing voor gameplan.

Ranges: Ok, so basically as we move up stakes, good regs will exploit us pretty hard as they will have coaches like me who will do deep "kill the reg" analysis. This means that if you are completely value orientated in certain spots (such as only betting aa vs utg) or only 3betting a value range frmo SB vs btn, then they will quickly see. Now at nl25 its not massively important, but you want to move up stakes, and this means that you need to have at least a basic game plan for when you move up the stakes, otherwise you will probably take over 100,000 hands to really understand the new stake. So I've tried to adopt advanced strategies, that are actually vv simple to people from NL25, so their overall game plan is solid and they are trying to work on it.
As well as your game improving, it also makes you think about poker on a deeper level outside of "ah lets wait for aces, value bet vs this fish etc.
Generally the first step should be to try and work out VERY basic ranges.
How do we do this?
Ok, we WANT to have a 3bet value range, a calling range and a 3bet bluffing range, vs regs.
Lets try this V simply here.
3bet value range:
AA
KK
QQ
Calling range:
AK
AQs
KQs
JJ
TT
99
88
77
Alright, so without going into exact combos, generally we need/or strive, to have as many 3bet bluffs as 3bet value hands, this means our range is "BALANCED" as we have an equal amount of value and bluff hands.
So now out of every single combination of hands, we need to try and pick 2 that go into our 3bet bluffing range.
Very simply, we should choose the best hands that we fold AND hands that have blokcers (these are generally the same) why? Well if we can 3bet KQ or 82o, of course KQ makes more sense smile
So our 3bet bluffing range would look something like
AQo
KQo
Once we have our basic ranges defined, i.e working out which hands we 3bet bluff co vs btn, bvb etc then we can start working really hard on our ranges, but just generally having a good understanding initially and thinking, ah Q9s, fold, "ahhhhhh actually, this is probably the best hand I would fold, so lets put it in our 3bet fold range"

- 13$from 24tabling nl2 tot nl100
=1BI up

damn man ,ik ben cheap !
positieve: kheb men one time nog opgebruikt.
