Hey guys,

as noone answers in the German forums I thought it would be best to post it right here..

last time i visited Amsterdam we went up to the top of a tower, maybe a steeple - it had a bell if i remember right (I think it was in the center of the city, I believe it was near Anne Frank Huis but I can be wrong) first we had to walk up pretty narrow stairs, in the end we had to climb wooden ladders. On the top there was a little platform with a great view over the city.

unfortunately I cannot remember the name of it - would be great if one of you could help me out there because my brother is visiting Amsterdam right now and I want him to do this

Was it a church..?
I know u have a great view over centre of Amsterdam from the " Oudekerkstoren", but thats a church, no idea if its open for tourists.

I think u mean the "Westertoren", thats close to the Anne Frankhuis.
Thats also a part of a church, called Westerkerk. Its located at Prinsengracht.

I won't :P. I hope that bobm78's answer was good enough.. Unfortunately I am more of a stranger to Amsterdam than JTtotheD is, so I won't be able to help here :(.
