With this quiz, you can test whether you have assimilated the knowledge of the "After the Flop - No One Has Initiative" article. We deal in particular with lines against unknown opponents. You have to make the right decision in ten different situations.

In the solutions, all possibilities are considered in detail. The maximum of reachable points is 19. If you manage to finish in the top tier, you've probably grasped the concepts of the article. In the second group, you probably have a few leaks here and there - depending on the questions where you made the wrong choice, you might have to work on different areas of your game. Last but not least, the third tier means that you will have to deal with the entire theory behind unraised pots again in order to deal with your massive leaks.

Hand categories: put the following hands into the corresponding hand category.

Question 1:

Stacks: all 100 BB

Preflop: Hero is BB with K, 2
MP3 calls 1BB, SB calls 0.5BB, Hero checks

Flop: 7, 8, K

a) medium made hand - you have a pair that can win the showdown. If someone else has a K, too, he has you beat, but even against two opponents, your top pair can be considered strong in this spot.
b) weak draw - there are 5 cards which would help you improve to two-pair or trips. The hand you're aiming to complete isn't overly strong and with a mere 5 outs, you only have a weak draw.
c) trash - a top pair with the weakest possible kicker; every other king beats you. The hand is worthless.

Question 2:

Stacks: all 100 BB

Preflop: Hero is BU with A, 2
UTG1 calls 1BB, MP3 calls 1BB, Hero calls 1BB, BB checks

Flop: 2, 6, A

a) strong made hand - second best possible two-pair on a dry board without too many draws. This definitely is a strong hand here.
b) medium made hand - in an unraised pot, your opponents could easily have A6 or 22/66 or even AA. There are quite a few hands who have you beat. Even if your hand isn't weak, it should only be considered as a medium strong hand.

Decisions on the flop: this time, you have to play a hand on the flop. You are faced with a specific situation and you have to decide what line is correct and why.

Question 3:

Stacks: all 100 BB

Preflop: Hero is BU with 7, 8
UTG1 calls 1BB, UTG3 calls 1BB, MP3 calls 1BB, Hero calls 1BB, BB checks

Flop: 5, 6, A
BB checks, UTG1 bets 4BB, UTG3 raises 8BB, MP3 raises 12BB, Hero…

The arguments behind the right answer is crucial here - the line alone isn't worth any points.

a) call - with this much action, there certainly is someone to pay you off in case you hit the turn.
b) call - you only have to invest 12BB for a 29.5BB pot, so folding would already be wrong purely by odds and outs.
c) fold - after 3 players have already played aggressively on this flop, and two more left to act who could raise again in case you call, the risk of not seeing the turn for 12BB is too big.
d) fold - you have to invest 12BB for a 20BB pot. You can't really expect to see the river for free, so you would need pot odds of 1:5 to call profitably. With a mere 1:3.5, you should thus fold.

Question 4:

a) call - you still have the best hand from time to time and you only have to pay 13BB. Your opponent will usually check worse hands behind on the river and the pot is yours. In case he bets, you can just fold.
b) raise - your opponent will rarely play a better hand this way. He will often be on a flush draw, so you have to protect your top pair.
c) fold - first check/calling the bet on the flop and then suddenly raising the bet on the turn is an indication of enormous strength. You're facing a monster most of the time - either played bad on the flop with hands like 88, 99 or A8, or a hand like JT who has now hit on the turn. Top pair without kicker is hardly ever good in this spot.

Situations on the river. The last two questions deal with hands where you have to make the decision on the river.

a) bet 10BB - you won't win the hand with A-high; your opponent however hasn't shown any strength, so you should try to bluff again.
b) check - your opponent will only fold weaker hands, like other draws that didn't hit, while he will call with all better hands.
