Playing big pocket pairs is pretty easy pre-flop. You have a very strong hand and you create as much action as possible. This can change post-flop, though, because depending on the board your "sure-fire success" turns into a tough decision. Big pockets pairs are often harder to play on ugly boards. Calling in the right spots, folding or giving your opponents even more action can push your win rate tremendously.
