Challenge of the week
What do you think of this challenge? is currently playing 100NL and has just employed a coach.
His goal is to crush 400NL by the end of the year, and he is feeling pretty confident.
Personally I would say the jumps in class from 100NL to 200NL, and then from 200NL to 400NL are massive. I know a lot of great players who have been stuck at 200NL for a very long time.
I hope he proves me wrong, why not follow him for yourself and see how he goes?
Learning to win
It's probably the number one reason we post threads asking for help on forums - what to do when you are on a big downswing?
is in that position now, but rather than moan, he has asked what he should be asking himself during a downswing to make sure it's not his play causing the losses?
I love, love, love this response from , who I think has nailed it:
"Big pots matter less than small pots when looking for leaks. Why? Because big pots are usually standard situations, i.e. set vs set, flush vs straight, AA vs KK and so on... And as a poker player you don't really make all your money from the big pots, majority of the winnings come from the smaller pots."
