Jens Vörtmann wins Event 22
The German Jens Vörtmann secured the first place in the small H.O.R.S.E. Event with a $3,000 buy-in, giving Germany the first title in this year's WSOP.
Big Names at the Final Table
On the final table, Vörtmann prevailed over known pros like Marcel Luske and Jennifer Harman. Furthermore, he also played against Rostislav Tsodikov,
Doug Ganger, Steve Zolotow, Jared Davis and Hoyt Corkins.
Harman the First to join the Rail
After Vörtmann won a big pot against Jennifer Harman in the Stud-8, the sympathetic player never got back into the game. Shortly afterwards, she was the first to join the rail.
Jens eliminates Tsodikov, Davis and Luske
About 10 minutes later, Vörtmann took Rostislav Tsodikov out of the race. In Stud his queens were worth more than Tsodikov's nines. The American only finished as seventh.
Again in Stud, but several rounds turns later, Vörtmann then eliminated Jared Davis. On third street, Davis bet on a board of

in front of him and put Davis all-in, who called. Jens flipped over 
. Davis mucked his hand and dropped out on rank 5.
Marcel Luske also fell victim to the German. It was yet again the Stud variant in which Vörtmann took the Dutchman out of the tourney. Short-handed, Luske chipped his last chips across the line on fourth street. Vörtmann had (

) (X). The last, unknown card didn't help Luske as he finished third.
Heads-Up against Doug Ganger
Vörtmann went into the heads-up with a comfortable 2:1 chip lead. In Hold'em, Ganger turned the tables though and took over the lead. In Omaha-8, he even had a 2:1 chip lead himself. But the Stud hands foiled Ganger's plans.
Stud, Stud, Stud
The Stud round had barely begun when Jens already conquered the chip lead again. In Stud-8 he then sealed the deal: On third street both players were all-in. Ganger's board showed a pair of eights. Vörtmann's board showed a pair of fives. In the end, Vörtmann prevailed: With a rivered two pair jacks and fives he was able to defeat Ganger's two pair (eights and nines) and took the first 2008 bracelet back to Germany.
