William Hill reject second $3bn takeover bid
We round up some stories you may have missed, including bookmaker rejects consortium, Seminole misses $5m pledge and Pamsi draws Holz.
William Hill turn down 2nd approach
After failing with their first bid, a consortium made up of 888 Holdings and The Rank Group this week made a second, revised attempt to takeover William Hill.
The original bid, said to be £3.6bn, was dismissed immediately with the bookmaker deeming it to massively undervalue the company which is the largest high street bookmaker chain in the United Kingdom as well as operating an online poker room and accompanying casino.
While this week's bid was thought to be significant raise, upping the stock element to win over shareholders, it was again rejected out of hand, having fallen short of the firm's valuation.
Seminole falls short - again
888 and Rank aren’t the only ones coming up short as, this week the prestigious Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Main Event was forced to announce that, for the third straight year, the event has failed to fully fund its stated guarantee.
Missing out by $756,000, the Seminole Indians of Florida will be required to fund the outlay once again.
Three years ago the event, then with a $10m guarantee, was so popular that the pot exceeded the total by nearly $2m, since when it hasn’t managed to meet its total. In 2014 it was some $2.5m below the required pot pledge which, in 2015, led to the Seminole Indians, who stage the event, to slice the guarantee in half to $5m where it still fell short by $500k.
CrownUpGuy gets the Pamsi treatment
Argentinian poker fan and photographer Pamsi has taken to sketching out the bios of the biggest names in the game on her YouTube channel. The mini movies have proved extremely popular for Pamsi and her latest subject is one Fedor crownupguy Holz.
