That first AA hand.. that was played like terrible.. check on the turn then reraise him by the same amount? wtf? then a weak bet on the river..

You really need to play your AA like they are AA. With that i mean, play them more agressively. It doesn't matter if they fold preflop, it's better then trying to trap then having a weak hand that would have folded preflop get two pair or even a flush..

the other hands.. well you got them all in preflop, just bad luck. But that doesn't take away the fact you played those 2 hands pretty badly if you ask me.

Like I said AK sucks , If you get re raised , fold it.

This hand obviously the guy has a big pair and forced me to move all in or fold calling here is just insane given the stack sizes.

Given the fact that if all my cards are live im winning 43% vs 56% and ive only invested 5bb easy laydown. But no I gambled and lost again :)

But seriously , re rasing an early position raiser with JJ an amount forcing me to move all in is almost retarded play. The only possible hands I would have in that position is AK AA KK QQ JJ he can only beat 1 of those hands.

If anyone is gambling he is .

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$0.02/$0.04 No-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)

Known players:
[tg]SB$5.49:///////;BB$2.57:///////;MP2$5.00:///////;MP3 (Hero)$2.32:///////;CO$5.39:///////;BU$2.97:///////;[/tg]

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with A:s, K:c.
MP2 posts deadblind, MP2 checks, Hero raises to $0.20, CO raises to $0.72, 4 folds, Hero raises to $2.32, CO calls $1.60.

Flop: ($4.74) 7:c, 3:d, 7:h (2 players)

Turn: ($4.74) 9:s (2 players)

River: ($4.74) T:h (2 players)

Final Pot: $4.74.
Results follow:

Hero shows a pair of sevens(A:s K:c).
CO shows two pairs, jacks and sevens(J:s J:d).

CO wins with two pairs, jacks and sevens(J:s J:d).

Personally Id rather be in this situation vs Jacks . 81% vs 18%

The guy who raised me with JJ before re raised me again .. I got another caller , Great i should win a lot of money this hand if both players call.

So if I'm losing with AA over a sample of 9k hands, does AA suck?

AA has an expected win of x bb/hand, AK has an expected win of y bb/100 which is quite a bit lower than AA.

If you are losing with AK over any sample either:

A. You're playing it badly

B. The sample size isn't large enough

There is no option C "AK is bad" because you could apply the same logic to AA right? Except that's MORE obviously a retarded statement and the novice players filter that out as a given.

Seriously , you arent thinking right , AK wins alot , but when it loses it loses more than it wins.

1. Raise AK see flop hit A or K bet they fold
2. Raise AK see flop hit A or K bet they call , bet turn they raise ... oops i
lost to set
3. Raise AK miss flop , c bet they raise fold lose

there are just so many ways to lose more money with AK than you win with it.

Ive had AK 5 times today and lost 2 times , the win percentage is higher than the losing percentage however I lost to AA and JJ with it And the pots I won were small compared to the pots I lost . I guess if you are small stacked you are almost pot commited when you hit the ace and c bet the ace vs 3 aces.

This is how you win all there money with AK ....

Conclusion AK is a trap , I should have fold to his re raise before flop .. why ? Because he had better than AK he had a pair . FOLD AK win money simple.

So anyway in this hand I have position , I have a DRAWING HAND -- AK perfect position to play AK imo ... I raise a limper , I hit my flop , he checks , I check , he checks turn , 2 checks MY HAND MUST BE GOOD? , I Bet he folds .. I win small pot . AK sucksssss

I'm sorry, I think you confused my statements as opinion rather than fact.

AK is one of the best hands in holdem and thus will net you a LOT of money over the long term.

If you are losing with AK then you're playing it wrong or haven't played enough hands, probably a bit of both.

There is no argument, this is the truth and whether you choose to live in the real world or fantasy land is up to you ;)

THE GRAILER IS BACK BABY!!!!!!!!

why dont u take a new approach to the game?
start foldin each AK/AQ/AJ u get, instant fold, and start raisin/3betting each hand thats is within 2-9 range, that way when flops has no face cards and villains cbet's ur 101% favorite....

or jump out of ur window

now that party poker has changed the buy min in limits on lower limit tables AK has just become the winning hand it should be, I have to change my stance on AK due to these rule changes .

Big Stack AK was killing me cause i was getting stacked by sets and suck outs etc hence why my losses were so big vs the amount it cost for them to see flop .

But now ... wow best change ever . you just really have to look at the players position to decide if its worth playing.

If they are UTG and good stats , definately consider folding you will be behind and possibly way behind AA or Kings

check it out .. 2 hands AK just played .

I raised up quite big here UTG , when someone came over the top i decided to pay some more rake and call.

Play hand

Late position raises after a fish with vp60 limps in again , I decide his range could be from A10 to AA , I can beat 3 hands , and slightly behind small pairs only 2 hands have me dominated, time to move all in.

Play hand

HOW NOT TO PLAY AK/AQ etc

I mean you seriously have to raise with AK/AQ/AJ in this position , I wouldve moved all in after he raised and then he can lay down AQ before flop. After the flop he shows down Ace high ???

Play hand

And again someone limps with AK!!! wow ive been folding to every single steal and i wouldve fold QJ too in a heartbeat, I actually had fold to any bet clicked lol since I was multi tabling. Lucky I clicked it off in time :f_biggrin:

Play hand

AA winning rate 88% - winning a lot $$$
KK winning rate 92% - winning a lot more $$$
AK winning rate 65% - Losing about -$36

*i checked on holdem manager, i played the AK TOO AGGRESIVE on cash table, that y i'm losing money. AK is not sucks BUT i'm the one who played it badly!

*AA and KK, i played it very aggresive NO TRICKS unless i hit a SET/or better after flop.

ATM, i stop playing cash table, moving to SNG $3 - $4 buyin which i found more profitable and required less time to triple up my buy in. AK pay really well here compare to cash game.

This is what will happen if u do not raise properly

OK ... here Ive changed the way I play AK , seems to be working a bit better Today .

AK 9 times

Fold 1
Split pot 1
Steal blinds 5
Showdown 2 = win 100%
AK vs AQ
AK vs AJ

There was more than 1 raise before you go all in with AA and KK

easy enough to lay this down

Play hand

shove here

Play hand

Seems that u have tweaked your mistake with that AK hand.

Good fold there...the KJ guy was so sad :)

AK can't suck since it is one of the best starting hands in Hold' Em. Also, your samplesize (9000) is a joke.

Ace king sucks if you don't know when to drop it and when to drop the cbet :) But yes I agree, its probably the toughest hand to play, atleast on FR Rush Poker Tables.

I like to check this hand alot on low flops, the only hands you can make fold on such a board is ace high / king high hands (Depending on your opponents). Even if the villain decides to call you with AQ he might fire the river if you take the bet / check / check line. Think of it as an unmade hand, you can't beat much on for example 6 7 9.

* PS - I play rush poker, stat tracking software is out of the question so this is what I would recommend as your line against unknown opponents. If you have additional information at hand that would lead you to a better decision, go for it.*
