I've not read Harrington's books, but I saw yesterday somewhere in the hand evaluation forums, someone says he recommending shoving the nuts on the river over value betting reasoning it's long run +ev any thoughts?

People seem to have the concept of value betting incorrectly. Think about it this way, let's say you have a draw, like a flush draw or str8 draw on the flop, if you are only up against one opponent, the raise you make isn't a value bet because you are only putting in money against one opponent, you are not improving your odds in the hand. However, in the same sittuation, if there are 2 other opponents in, that is when you value bet, which increases your odds, thus giving you better value for being in the pot.

I confuse myself sometimes, however, the words of the mad man are true. In simpler words, if you hve a flush draw, and you bet one dollar, against one opponent you are only getting your money back if he calls, but if there is multiple opponents that makes the pot 3 dollars for every 1 of yours. That's what a value bet is.

Because the odds are against you 33 percent of getting the flush from there so it's bad value! if it was 50 /50 it's fine.

I have A7 in the bb and i check. There are two limpers.

Flop: AAA. Well i guess I win. Check

Turn: T I still win so I check. Still no one wants the pot. They must have utter trash.

River: T

Time to put them to the test to see how stupid they really are. I shove all in for $19 into a $3 pot. To my amazement both call playing the board. One has Q9o and one has 85s. They were calling 19 to win 19 after rake. THANKS FOR YOUR MONEY!
