Pre Flop: (1.5 SB) Hero is SB with 6 :spade: 8 :diamond:
3 folds, Hero raises, BB calls

Flop: (4 SB) T :spade: Q :spade: J :spade: (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero calls

Turn: (3 BB) Q :diamond: (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero folds

Thoughts:
I could not decide between cbetting and just giving up... what should I have done?
reason why I didnt do it was that board is aweful

The pre-flop open sounds loose. Not sure what the stats of our villain are, but I would only open this if he folds a lot on steels.

Cheers,

In general people fold to much on the lower stakes, so I open quite loose BvB uless I have read/notes otherwise...

My question is more about the flop, if I should have c-bet.

normally I would cbet and give up on the T if he calls, but because of the drawyness of the board I decided not to cbet. In hindsight I think I should have cbet, I'm curious what you think?

You dont make money cbetting vs a tight calling range on this flop. As you say, money comes from preflop and not cbetting loose postflop.

Just steal and give up unless you hit some vs a guy that folds to much preflop.

Edit:
Btw, betting only flop is very bad IF you decide to cbet. this board hits your range so much harder then your opponent.
You have all the set (TT-QQ), all 2pairs, straights, overpaired, flushes etc.
He will most likely 3bet hands like TT-AA, AQ+ etc.

Don't agree with you kevsaf, I think this hand is ok.

Why would you not c-bet? Standard move in FL, if he calls you then c/f turn like you did.

I did not c-bet... I x/c the Flop as OR, which isn't really standard...

unless we have a foldy opponent, I would fold preflop
we have indeed to play a lot of hands in BvB, but remember we have to play (a lot)rake

as played, certainly C-bet flop

Opening this is a purely exploitative move based on population reads. I can accept that. (Versus good player you get no preflop folds at all. He has pot odds and position.) Then c-betting here means 100% c-betting, which is again an error, except as an exploitative move. I'd say both opening and c-betting is an excessive move and wrong regardless of population reads.

That said, check-calling flop is just AWFUL. You make your hand about 20% of the time. But more than 40% of those times he'll have you nutted, and you'll have to pay off. (If he doesn't have you nutted, there is often not more than the measly 3BB to be won. He wont call much without a flush.)

So Yohan, what do you do pre? fold?
Why do you think we have to C-bet each flop?

I'd fold pre without read (population read wouldn't be enough for me because I don't have that kind of strong read on them), but I don't hate raising pre.

Then my point about c-betting is that it should not be done 100%. But if you bet on this flop, then there's the risk that you don't read the board at all and just blindly c-bet whatever lands. Here we don't even have an idiot end gutshot straight draw, and the flush draw counts for little. True, fold equity might be slightly higher than usual if he has missed too.

In isolation, c-betting isn't horrible either, it is the combination (opening and c-betting) that is too much. You will get a too loose image in the long run.

Thnx this comment really helped. I already knew I played crappy here. But if I get you right you mean that:
The preflop open isn't in it self bad, depending on the player, but it is very marginal because If I play vs a 100% calling range then I should cbet 100%.
In this case I could c-bet or give up (x/f). The worst thing I could have done was what I did, x/c as OR.

So in general I shouldn't play this hand vs good players but can vs weaker players if I have a reason (they fold PF, or on cbet, etc).

Is this a fair summation?

Spot on:) Except the part about c-betting 100% versus a 100% calling range.
