But what if you get raised on the river? I think you have to b/c but you won't really know where you stand. If you think he's not raising the river and probably just has K hi, Q hi, A hi, I like the valuebet a lot. My standard would be c/c though vs him as you don't want to b/f and b/c might be a bit too much.

edit: However, looking at it again, it is a perfect board to valuebet A9! Very nice hand. I love the bet.

Well, the standard rationale versus maniacs is, let him bluff. Here you can be pretty sure you have a better hand on the turn because he very likely would raise you on the flop if he was better. Still, a maniac tends to bluff more than he would call. So, what do you think is the best line to get value from a hand like J9? You have to have a read to valuebet against this on the river as he has to make a very loose call. On the other hand he probably will bluff it. So, on the river or even the turn I like cc better as that will get more value out of the mediocre hands he has.

An even better line could be cr turn. No doubt you are ahead here and why not exploit it to the max? The pot is big enough that protection against 6 outs counts.

A valuebet on the river is good, if he would check K or Q high. But if he likes to bet against a display of weakness, I prefer a check.
