maximizing value

Hi guys,

I've played this hand this morning and I must say it went down quite nice. I 3betted this hand quite loose because it's 10NL Zoom poker. I had no read on this guy and don't use a HUD. I'll post the hand here and will give my reasoning below the hand.

player 1(button): 12,57$
player 2(sb): 13,85$
player 3(bb-hero): 13,32$
Player 4(utg): 11,79$
Player 5(mp): 8,17$
Player 6(co): 10,72$

PF pot:2,01$
utg raises 3x, mp fold, co fold, button calls 3x, sb folds, hero 3bets 9x (7 :spade:9 :spade:), utg calls, button folds.

F 4,1$
8 :spade:A :spade:6 :spade:
hero bets 11x, villain calls

T 9,33$
3 :diamond:
hero bets 28x, villain calls

R
J :diamond:
hero bets 80bb, villain folds

I'm asking myself the question if a medium sized bet would work better?
at the moment of the hand I've put him on AK with the K of spades or KK with the K of spades because he called such a big bet on the turn. I didn't feel like he wouldn't call me on the river as my big sized bet could be interpreted as a bluff as the 4th spade didn't fall and the board didn't improve for the draws, only reasonable hand I could've improved with was AJ(which he wouldn't think I would 3bet? or JJ)

Do you guys think he folded AK there? or did he just pay a gigantic amount of money to see the river with only a flushdraw or maybe KK or QQ? (would be massive -EV for villain?)

and how do you guys think I should maximize this spot for value? Keep betting big (70% of pot) when I think he has set AA, 88, AK or KK and a missed fd or lower my bet size to get called more frequently?

looks fine , its pointless to bet lower in this board because all villain's sdv will fold at turn to any bet. Just hope he has something to stack off.

The 3-bet pre looks strange , did you have a read or something? without reads i wouldnt recommend such plays especially against utg.

I agree with Suboptimal88 -- the 3Bet pre is stretching things a bit.
No, its stretching things a LOT.

With that hand vs UTGs normal open-raise range you have little equity.

       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    67.10%  66.78%   0.32% { 66+, AJs+, KJs+, AQo+, KQo }
BB     32.90%  32.58%   0.32% { 9s7s }

However, postflop you did OK -- my guess is that villain held K:s -- and a non-spade Q or A

Against that range you are not likely to get value on the river.

If you haven't already, I suggest you download Equilab -- its free .

In Equilab is a section where you can see different ranges for different positions. For example, I picked the "Tight" range for 6-Max UTG, and added KQ and KJs to get the range I used above.

Vorpal, thanks for the equity calculator. I didn't yet use one of these tools. However I'm using a Mac and can't open the program.. as it's only for windows.

I know this isn't a standard play, and -EV but my read on this guy was that he was passive and fit/fold the flop even in 3bet pots. I had the feeling I could make him do it once more and if he calls through I still have hidden straight outs on many flops or flush draws.

ofc he can catch me with a bluff.
In this situation I hope the other player tags me as bad/loose/bluff as I will do with him and show him a valuehand next time.
