Villain's been fairly aggressive, but not very fishy from what I could tell.

Cake Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) - Cake-Poker Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

saw flop

CO ($10.70)
Button ($19.78)
SB ($9.40)
BB ($9.60)
UTG ($10.10)
Hero (MP) ($26.12)

Preflop: Hero is MP with 9♠, 9♣
1 fold, Hero bets $0.40, CO calls $0.40, 3 folds

Flop: ($0.95) 6♣, 9♥, 10:club: (2 players)
Hero bets $0.60, CO calls $0.60

Turn: ($2.15) 9♦ (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $1.50, Hero calls $1.50

River: ($5.15) 5♥ (2 players)
Hero bets $2.50, 1 fold

Total pot: $5.15

I slow-played on the turn in the hopes of inducing a bluff, which worked nicely. However, do you think I should have checked on the river (and check-raise to put him all-in if he bets) instead?

I would minraise him on the turn giving him the opportunity to draw his flush, eventually trying to indicate that you are doing something stupid. Then, since flush did not hit, I would c/r on the river.
