Fold preflop.

Your hand is only slightly connected, and although you're in position you're in a big multiway pot and you run the risk of being oversetted or beaten by better straights when you hit.

I wouldn't even open raise this hand first in on the button without strong reads on the blinds as being likely to fold, play fit/fold on the flop.

This is a fold even if everyone has limped. However there is a raise before you which makes it even easier.

In PLO you are trying to win money, rather than win pots. The difference between the two is significant. What it means is that you play hands that when you hit the flop, you can bet them and players will call you with worse. The problem with a small set here is as you found out, you can't bet or raise your hand therefore you wont win a big pot (and on the times you are beaten by a bigger set you will lose a big pot).

Small pairs are a lot of trouble in PLO because of this very reason. If you are going to play hands that have pairs in , as a starting guide I would go with pocket tens or higher. Of course you can play lower but the hand needs to be a lot better (such as 9 :spade:9 :heart:8 :diamond:7 )

347x doesn't make any good straights, and 44xx is a very poor pair to play in a multiway pot so you should definitely fold this hand.
