Apparently so, because it never happened.

Indeed it is. Why? Because it's not completely up to you. Even if you play good variance will smack you from time to time. And more to the point, it's result oriented which is really damaging.

Set small, achievable goals (not just poker-wise) so you'll feel you're going somewhere when you complete one.

Dude, to answer your original question... I realised I'm one of the losers a while back and I'll tell you, it's not because I was born a loser, it's because I don't work hard enough to be a winner.

You sound pretty pathetic to be honest. The only thing that could possibly stop you from beating nl10 @ 2bb\100 over a decent sample is either a massive lack of intelligence (unlikely) or the lack of applied knowledge.

Your goal and this rant is stupid if you've never put the effort in to learn how to beat nl10... Have you done this?

Saying you're a born loser implies that you lose no matter what... So, what, have you run bad over 100k hands but played really well? This is possible by the way and if you're sure this is the case then the answer is to play more hands.

I think though that the reason you're in this spot is that you've not put the required work in. Either put the work in or give up and find something you're motivated to improve at.

Poker is difficult to beat, apart from maybe nl2 where you can just nit it up and print money (small amounts of).

I know. That seems to be the solution to everything. Hard work.

So what does one do when no amount of work helps? What does one do when hard work leads to dissapointment and not success?

Seriously, you're implying here that you've worked your ass off and can't beat any poker limit? Have you beat nl2 & nl5? If yes, win rate & stats? If no, then what on earth are you doing playing nl10?

If you believe you've put the work in then I would bet a lot of money that you're not applying what you've learned... Have you posted any hands? What do the hand judges say? You have Durrr skills but run bad or you're a fish who needs to improve?

I know a lot more about poker than I apply at the tables and I'm happy to admit that this is the reason I've not yet beaten a limit beyond nl5 over a decent sample.

Are you absolutely certain that a) you know enough to beat nl10 and b) that you apply everything you know every time you're at the tables?

If yes to both then you just need to play more hands... You're running super bad and if no then pull yer socks up laddy or give up and spend your time doing something more productive.

Work differently.

I know a lot of things that i dont apply.

I think im subconsciously wired to sabotage my own situation, be it at poker, or anything else in life.

Has anyone else in here realized that they suck at poker?

Its a bitter pill to swallow, but how many of us have admitted to ourselves that we will never be poker pros? We will never be highstakes ballers, and we will never acheive anything worthwhile in this game.

I run for fun. I will never be an Olympian.
I play volleyball for fun. I enjoy myself immensely -- but I am not all that good -- and I'm getting worse as I get older.
I hike, I swim and I'll never be any good at those either.

I don't bowl any more. I was reasonably good -- it just wasn't much fun any more.
I've never golfed -- it doesn't look like it would ever be any fun.

My point is that I don't really care if I suck at poker -- I am improving all the time. I am learning the game, and learning about myself -- growing as a player. Most importantly, it is fun.

If you don't enjoy it don't do it.
If you do enjoy it, then take the steps necessary to become good.

What do you do to earn a living?
Do you enjoy that?
If not, find another career.

+1 _love:

i dont have a living, and i dont enjoy anything. I suck at everything.

And why don't you focus on changing this? Just choose 1 project, start it and finish it.

There are 7 billion people in this world.
On of them is the worst off of all of them.
Oddly enough that person does not think it is him (or her).
I guarantee that it is not you.

Of those 7 billion, one of them is the best off, too.
It is NOT Donald Trump, no matter how much he would like to think so.
Whoever is best off likely does not realize it either.
For that reason, it might be you. Or me.

I'm a bit concerned by your steadfast refusal to budge from the "I'm such a loser" position.

You either need serious therapy, or you are yanking our chains just for the fun of it.

The only two things that a human being has to offer the world are attitude and effort. If you approach ANYTHING with the willingness to learn, and put in the effort to apply what you've learned, then you will succeed. You may NEVER be the "world's best" -- but who cares?

You claim to have put in the effort -- I'm not really buying that, by the way -- now fix up your attitude, and get busy or get lost.

I would gladly follow your blog as you detail your progress.
Start with a graph of your poker career thus far.
Then start a new one, where you get back to basics and follow the program to the letter.

We'll watch with interest.

Edit:
I just read this, and realized that it may sound harsh. I apologise for that. However I am doing myself exactly what I suggest. If you would like to do it together, send me a friend request, and let's get going.

Yea try again... im broke, but if i wasnt, id throw that money away anyway.

Think what you will... i have tried hard and failed at every endeavor i have ever undertaken. I have nothing and no one left to blame except myself.
I cannot any longer deny the obvious: I suck at life.

I didnt come to this conclusion lightly.... 27 years of experience.

If anyone out there has any idea of what im talking about, and you have found a way to deal with it, let me know.

27 years of experience?
-snort-
I have a moustache that old.
and shirts that are older still.

and when the guy said it was a "level level level"
he was not making fun of you.
he was making fun of us for trying to hlep/give advice when it is obvious (to him) that you are not serious and are just putting one over on us.

you want to beat NL10.
fair enough.
did you ever beat NL2 or NL4 or NL5 ?
if your answer is no, then we all know why you can't beat NL10.
if your answer is "yes" then you haven't "always been a loser"

you may have trapped yourself here.
what's your answer?

Of course i trapped myself here. Im wired to fuck things up for myself.

If someone can tell me something besides "work on your game, post some hands or graphs" and acknowledge that the root of my problem is the subconscious wiring in my own head, i would love to hear that.

If someone can present me with a solution that seems at all probable, that would be even better.

Dont tell me to go over the starting hand chart, tell me what the fuck it is that makes some people like me consistent loosers at everything.

How do you break through self-imposed limitation?

I would love to hear what you have to say about that.

I'm starting to think that you're a masochist.
do you have any failed suicide attempts to your credit yet?

fine, the root of the problem is in your head.
like so many of today's "entitled youth" you want success but are unwilling to work for it.
you don't want to "follow the rules" (like studying and learning the basics) you just want to move straight to fame & glory. or 2BB/100 at 10NL.
it doesn't work that way.
someone should have put a foot to the seat of your pants a long time ago.
maybe that would have gotten your attention & motivated you to do something besides contemplate your navel and whine about how tough you have it.

speaking of things you can't seem to learn:
it's "loser" not "looser".
normally I would not point this out on an international forum, as the majority may not be native English speakers.
but the rest of your English is good enough for this to be grating on my last nerve.
"loser" (you) is the opposite if "winner".
"looser" is the opposite of "tighter" (me).

I'll wish you "good luck" with your life, but not for poker.
poker isn't about luck, at least for the winners.
