imo playing out of BRM just compounds the tilt from suckouts, and sng's have a lot of variance I believe?

Not again... Lost every coinflip in the past 5 SnG's on Cake. I literally can't win, no exaggeration. I am not allowed to win. Already lost half of my Cake bakroll. If I lose as much as one more, I'll withdraw my remaining money and get the fuck off this site. I don't even care about FDB any more. Winning $20 takes me two days and losing $200 takes half an hour, what's the deal with that?! I don't even want to hear the regular bs about variance. Sure, it's variance, but I've just had it with Cake and its eternal variance that makes me lose months of winnings in a matter of minutes. And the worst part is that I do my best to play correctly just to lose money to people who don't. People always told me to give it time, and variance will even out. I gave it time. Variance didn't even out...

imo your problem isnt variance but prob tilt, post some hands on the forum!

Kind of hard not to tilt if you spend weeks grinding to get enough money to buy yourself into a tourney, some idiot calls your raise out of position with a small pocket pair having about 1:4 implied odds and hey ho - he hits his set. Fuck this. I'm sick of poker. Making +EV moves is supposed to be profitable. In my case it just isn't. Theoretically I should be rich right now. I don't even know how to play anymore. Not one style and not one format works, I lose everything. Everything.

Small update. Out of the 26 times I went all-in today I got sucked out on 26 times in a row. I am now broke on Cake, and I'm not playing there ever again.

At this stage I'd definetly recommend stoping poker for a while ...
Come back when you really want to play, and not make up for losses. This put you in a really bad state of mind, and it doesn't help the game.

Just when I started winning again on Cake, I'm down 7BI in 2 sessions again, probably even more because I'm down despite having received bonuses and rakeback. Things like this have been happening about 80% of the time with all kinds of stacks and hands:
http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/Default.aspx?Hand=xc3Ax8TFwMXCx8TExcfEwYjNxMDCwMI%3d

This was today's last one. I just can't believe this keeps happening. I lose big pots, I lose small pots, my draws never get there but my opponents keep catching cards over and over and over again, I literally can't remember the last time a bluff of mine worked, and the only times I do get a hand, I run into something stronger or get sucked out on. The worst part is that this keeps going on and on and on, it doesn't stop or even out. Why? Why does this keep happening? Why only to me? WHY?!?

EDIT: I banged my head against the wall a couple of times, now I'll go get drunk and try again tomorrow. This is seriously sick...

The hand history you showed us there was kinda bad play..

Hi Berzerger,

I really feel for you, so please listen to what im about to say, before this escalates...... I have totally experienced what you're going through, though whilst we differ in terms: I lost my roll from insufficent knowledge of the game whereas yours is the result of bad beats, the principle remains essentially the same...TILT.

I strongly recommend a 2-4 week break at least. In that period you need to clear your head of those losses and start from the beggining...from scratch (get in the mindset that you are not chasing losses but building a roll again).

Without that, a small bad beat can so easily manifest those feelings of tilt, where you literally feel compelled to chase back that 'bit extra'.

Also when u come try games with lower variance. heads up and 6 man's can get swingly, never mind SnG's and MTT's which are just for the lucky.

Anyway I hope you get through this, come back with a clear head and get back in the green!!

Hi there .. I have a certain point -> Poker is really a sick thing to do for living, as you can do everything right and loose anyways .. And it is not for everyone .. I would strongly recommend you to just take a long break, forget about bad beats, suckouts and so and give poker one more try when you feel you want to play because you like the game and not because you need to win the money ..

Ok, I've gone through the entire post and I feel sorry for you dude.

Leave poker for a week. Don't even think of it. Take a vacation with your girl and even try to play with play money when you are back and believe it's your real money.

When you feel confident again to move to real money you'll see what happens. Don't just think if i go all in i'll make it.

Remember SnG is all about survival.

it seems tilt has compounded your disillusioned feeling of always being sucked out.

1) when you are on tilt- you make bad moves, catch a lucky card then blame bad luck when your opponent shows a flopped monster

2) tilt directly causes you to make bad mistakes

3) you think flipping a coin and it landing 5 times heads consequetively is abnormal- on the contrary it is very normal

4) you believe variance will 'even out'- this is a major fallacy, variance by definiition has no memory and will not just correct itself, if you are playing winning poker you will always have the edge in EVERY HAND

5) stop fucking playing if you're pissed off- why play the game if you find no joy in it? and hurting yourself even more? you emo

Thanks for the advices guys, it's really refreshing. I'm kind of past my tilt phase since I'm making profit again, but I do come here to moan about losing after a bad session because it seems to help. Grinding for a day is nice when you make profit, but it can get seriously demotivating when all of that gets set back by a few hands like these (preferably in sequence and at the same table):

http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/Default.aspx?Hand=xc3AzMTFwM3CwMTExMHFxIjNxMDCwMI%3d

Happened like 2 or 3 times today. And to seal it off, I just quit after this hand:

http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/Default.aspx?Hand=xc3AzMTFwMfDxMTExcDAwIjNxMDCwMI%3d

After what happened earlier, I just couldn't lay down kings and ended up losing a stack because of that. Eventually I broke even, but only because I received $100 rakeback for last week. I'll play a little more tonight, but first I'll cheer myself up somehow.

Bad session today again. Lost more than I won yesterday, twice as fast. Down 5BI, here are the biggest hands of the session in exact order:

http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/Default.aspx?Hand=xc3Bx8TFwM3MxMTExcHExYjNxMDCwMI%3d

Happened twice, but I didn't save the other hand.

http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/Default.aspx?Hand=xc3Bx8TFwM3MxMTExcHAzYjNxMDCwMI%3d

Not enough?

http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/Default.aspx?Hand=xc3Bx8TFwMDGxsTExcfHx4jNxMDCwMI%3d

And to finish off the session nicely, I checked behind on the river because... you ready? I thought AA now made a better full house than me.

http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/Default.aspx?Hand=xc3Bx8TFwMfFwcTExMfHx4jNxMDCwMI%3d

Didn't win additional $30 which I should have if I wasn't so disorientated. Hence I lost $30. Hell, I can't even imagine how long it will take to get that money back...

Yeah, I thought it was kind of weird that such a weak player gives such infuriated comments about hands that aren't even in this thread...

Down 4BI again, the worst thing is I started the session being 1BI up and lost 5 in similar fashion:

http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/Default.aspx?Hand=xc3CxcTFwMXCx8TExcbGw4jNxMDCwMI%3d

For some reason this happens only in big pots I play. Fairly demotivated right now, will try again later (perhaps tomorrow) _frown:

this is why you shouldn't defend your blinds, especially when out of position.
