Try to stick to the BRM, even 25BIs is pretty aggressive but it's fine for the lower stakes. :) For NL25 definitely use even more BIs like 30+.

But the huge leak I see in your game is that you Call too many 3bet pots, most likely you are loosing there too much. You should fold a lot more to 3bets. :( Especially don't Call them when being OOP.

Otherwise could be a bit more aggressive but it ain't a must, if you find that you are doing it this way good as well then it's not a huge trouble.

thanks for taking a look at that. i'm still playing on nl10 - will move down if i drop below 190. circling around 25BI now anyway so i might as well keep at it. its weird because i don't remember calling 3bets that much.. it must be hands like AK/QQ because i cant think what other hands i do this with. I found myself getting into the habit of flat calling IP with broadways and i have since stopped this and opted for 3bets or folds depending on the strength of these hands. i hope i can actually stop being break even at nl10 soon! now that i am home for christmas i can spend some time just working on my game away from playing as well and really going over my theory. found some cool videos to watch that i never even knew existed

okay veriz im going to be working on calculating equity so according to the formula you gave me on the previous page..........

e.g.

to call/(pot+to call)*100 = equity %...

Pot = $0.19
2call=$0.10

0.10/(0.19+0.10)*100 = 34.48%

am i doing this right? so basically, my win% must exceed my pot equity as calculated above in order for me to make a profitable call?

thanks and hope your having/had a good christmas

You did forgot the money which is also gonna be in the pot $0,10. So add that into the Total Pot. $0,10/$0,39.

Hopefully you have also a nice holidays and happy new year. :) I had a lot of food.

hello veriz long time no talk.

ive been really busy with uni and stuff so i have had to sacrifice poker for a while :( ... i have decided to attempt to get back into poker and start playing again. i have my main bankroll of $250 set aside and i have a spare $50 on stars so im going to be using that..

i built it up mainly from HU SNGs but obviously i want to focus on cash now. i built my main roll up playing FR up to nl10.. anyways, today i sat down on nl2 fr and got a little bored of how slow it is waiting for hands and i wanted to ask your opinion on moving to SH.

i know you played FR up to nl100 and i was planning on doing the same but i feel like i may be able to improve more by playing SH. do you have any advice for me as to what i should do when i start playing again?

thanks.

right i've been playing a bit over the last couple days on SH and i feel a lot more comfortable now. at first i got a little stung but i am now just playing like i would in FR but without the first 3 positions. i'm finding it a lot more fun and much more engaging - i'm taking a lot more notes on players and its way easier to keep track of who is who. i started on 2 tables and now im comfortably playing 4 tabls of SH at nl2.. im running at 10.64BB/100 over 3k hands - i know it won't stay at that rate but i feel comfortable at the moment. one of the things i've noticed is how much people bluff/spew and many people still seem to not go AIpf without KK+ still... either way, i'm finding myself needing a really good reason to go AIpf with less than KK now.

i wanted to ask what my stats should look like at SH? in one of your coachings you spoke about this in terms of FR play and created a notepad file with optimal stats for VPIP/PFR/AF/3bet/WtSD etc etc. i was wondering if you could give me an indicator of what my stats should look like for SH.. thanks.

I played FR till NL200. :P But practically there is a lot of adjustments need to be done for SH and of course start posting hands. ;) There you really can't improve by just playing and hoping for a hit. There is a lot preflop/postflop play, adjusting to opponents/boards etc.

VPIP: 19 - 29 ; PFR: 14-20 ; AF: 2-4 ; 3bet: 6-9 ; WTSD: 23-28

But overall don't base on that. ;) Following just some basic stats isn't going to work out. You should rather take everything step by step and starting to loosen up your range according how good you are and if you earn profit. :)

hello again. i have a question about position... i filtered my HM2 graph for nl10 and nl4 and i have about 20k hands. i then applied the basic filter (OOP) and the graph came back as being -110BB/100h. this is massiv loss when OOP. i then apply the filter to IP and i see it is about +107BB/100h. is this normal? it is roughly a break even stretch of 30k hands. obviously there is also a shot at nl10 there as well so im sure there is problems with me adjusting to the limit. is the simple solution for me to just play less hands OOP and more IP?

Well, first of all. The sample size is pretty small to take a look at those spots. But that's definitely a case that you are playing OOP not the greatest game. Either:
a) Calling OOP with marginal hands, not fighting back.
b) CBetting in wrong spots, maybe just CB/Fold type of game.
c) Many more...

But one option of course would be to Call less being OOP. :) Especially it may affect blind play.

yeah i think i am actually getting into bad spots. like i was open limping small pocket pairs from ep and if im holding QQ OOP i raise, get 3bet i tend to just flat the 3bet OOP which i know is really bad but its probably because i get married and dont want to fold QQ preflop to a 3bet. but at the same time i dont want to 4bet since i will either be 4bet shoving or 4bet/call 5bet shove. which obviously sucks (in general) with QQ when playing fr.

in a couple months time i am going to really get back into it and get watching videos. i have watched ge5sterne's gameplanning series this week and it is awesome he is a very good coach. do you have any recommendations for videos? i know you said you spent a lot of time watching videos!

Yeah, I do watch videos but the problem is that my videos are from Gold+ status, mainly Diamond ones. :( So I can't really recommend anything specific. Did you watch hasenbraten Crushing NL50?

Cool, great to hear. :) Yeah, SH is a bit different stuff but still it may teach you some tricks and stuff what you can also do in FR games.

Best Regards.

hello veriz i am thinking after my exams are finished i will get some sort of coaching with you. i will focus on reading and condensing the articles even more but i have done this a lot already and have played many hands yet i still have many leaks which i can't really identify but they mean i end up making only slight profits at maybe ~2BB/100. i have enough for nl10 but i would like to focus on nl5 for learning now. i could do a screen record and send it to you or we could set up a skype session at some point? it will be around the end of may and early june

Hey mate,

about booking a coaching then I hope you have read about the updates, link. So therefore I can make some exceptions with you and just tell me if you planning to book some sessions and stuff. Also send me your Skype via community cool and I will add you and we can discuss there.

About the stats, could you upload a bit different stat filter, go to HEM2 filters as -> Leak Buster - Overall. This has a lot more important stat and then I will do that. :) Right now a lot important stats are missing. Can also add Leak Buster - Position.

hey veriz been a while getting those stats but if you wouldnt mind taking a quick look that would be awesome.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

hope you can see the numbers and its not too small.

not sure why the position is like 6max but im playing FR

so as you know i've been having a bit of trouble with poker for a while since i can't seem to turn much of a profit. i do, but then i go on a losing streak and lose it all and then some. seem to be pretty break even. do you think it has something to do with me playing on stars? i find it impossible to get my money in with a set or with AA/KK preflop. if i get it in with KK i'm up against AA and all i get with such big hands are people set mining and outflopping me. should i move over to partypoker or should i learn to beat the nl5 nits at stars?

Hey mate,

One of the leaks I can find from the stats right now is your Call 3bet which is way too high. You are wasting a lot money in those spots and for that you can easily just Check your graph for Call 3bets preflop.

According your Flop CB you might want to CB turn a bit more, might be the case that you are playing too much CB once & done.

Also you have a leak, you are opening more hands from SB than the BTN mate. ;) Plus of course loosen up a bit rather from CO than open so many hands from SB where you are OOP.

From there you also losing so much money on the SB which proves the position stats. SB & BB are losing too much there, max for BB I'd say like -30 but SB definitely is loosing too much.

so as you know i've been having a bit of trouble with poker for a while since i can't seem to turn much of a profit. i do, but then i go on a losing streak and lose it all and then some. seem to be pretty break even. do you think it has something to do with me playing on stars?

Well, most likely you still have some huge leaks which make you lose a lot money (pointed above), most likely even more. But I doubt that it has something to do with stars, only thing is that stars is most likely tougher than other sites. :) There are enough of loose sites which also offer some rakeback even, might want to try them out and play for first deposit bonus.

i find it impossible to get my money in with a set or with AA/KK preflop. if i get it in with KK i'm up against AA and all i get with such big hands are people set mining and outflopping me. should i move over to partypoker or should i learn to beat the nl5 nits at stars?

I guess you are too much result oriented here, it's FR so those cases will happen that you wont get paid often enough. Just ignore it and keep your a-game rather than concentrate how much you get paid and how much not, it just makes you tilty.

thanks a lot for going over the stats. i was completely unaware of my calling 3bets so i will definitely work on that. i don't even know why i would flat call a 3bet.. maybe it's QQ type hands.. i think i should be raise/folding them instead of raise/calling.

i have been playing quite aggressively preflop from the BU and blinds recently.. maybe i need to calm down in the SB more. if BU raises me a couple times i tend to fight back a lot and i am sure i do it too much so it makes sense for me to be losing money there while i still often will have BB left to act!

i will stay on pokerstars for the time being and stop being so results oriented. thanks again mate

You are welcome!

I highly doubt that it's just QQ type of hands, 30%+ is pretty high calling %. :( You can filter out the hands and take a look.
