Using cashout or not?

Maybe it's worth it, when you are moving up. But in the long run it's a robbery, as they gain 1 % more edge over players who use it (mostly recreationals).

I try to avoid using cashout but when shotting a higher limit I like to use it here and there to avoid crazy swings. Honestly it's mostly helping my mindset. It's easier for me to give up some money because I used the cash out feature than getting sucked out and be left with nothing. So clearly it's psychological thing for me haha

When all-in with AA vs. KK, it is a good idea to cashout preflop or on the flop, the first time around, and the same when having e.g. a set vs an overpair early in the session. Also, beware similarly the bigger edge turn all-ins. If you know any situation, see it there also. Too bad one can't insure without the all-ins, as it would sometimes be useful with the dominating hands in NLH. In PLO, most of the time it is useless to insure, it being mostly for specific situations with the bigger edges, and when making shots -- even when flipping. Too expensive to use at GG, but at Stars, it is peanuts, and possibly even profitable, also considering the smaller likelihood of a tilt, moving down and so on. The RIT can more or less replace it, but one won't usually know it at Stars, as they don't have a mark for it.

Do you have numbers for that?

I cash out rarely, and I usually go by what my equity is.
If I'm way ahead I don't cash out.
If I'm behind at all I don't cash out.

cash out if the runout is going to be bad for you, don't cash out if it isn't

I use the same criteria when deciding to fold

I`m using cashout. Only if I withdraw the entire amount of money at once, then immediately make a small new deposit.

If you are 200bb deep to the immediate left of a very poor player then cashing out has some EV on the plus side too. There might also sometimes be reasons for wanting to retain a short stack too.

I think cashout every 60/40 - 50/50 - 40/60 and everytime you are ahead. i think thats the point to no swing those ev wise, but it cost in the long run what ev is gonna catch anyway

Every +60% pot, cashout just instantly give you what you get in the long run. Its just like a backup friend who you pay for that, he taking all the swings and make a 1% profit. If you got money you can do same in the live poker

so no more +7bins downswings under ev if dont want it. still result is with ev graph but under1%

Cashout is -EV itself, but so is everyone's mental game. And I mean everyone. If someone thinks that mental game isn't an issue, he is lying to himself.

If you think that paying for cashout costs less than the effect of running bad to your mental game, then it's +EV in the long run for you. If running bad doesn't rise any negative emotions for you, then it might be -EV to use it.

As far as I have seen, pretty much close to 100% of poker players over estimate their mental game thresholds and effects.

In the end everyone makes their own decisions, as they see the best for themselves. If someone is using cashout, it doesn't mean he is stupid or doesn't understand how it works. And for many players, using it might be +EV in the long run. As for myself, I am quite familiar with my mental game and I know where the dangers are. I estimate that using cashout on certain situations is +EV for me, and therefore I do it.
