PokerStars: Promotions & Information

I'm very sorry for the delayed reply here.

First of all I would like to point it out that we do our best to get you guys the best offer from all of our Partner Poker Rooms. Unfortunately, PokerStars have a very strict promotion policy when it comes to Affiliates. We constantly seeking for opportunities to improve but we also want to respect Stars policy.

Regarding the freerolls, we've had them in the past and even not so long ago we arranged one or two and will look into the possibility of having more of them in the future.

I've also asked our PokerStars key account manager to come by and give us a clearer prospective on this topic.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your question. In general, we're aiming to set up a time suitable for all our players, but since some of them are in other parts of Europe/World that can prove to be difficult.

I believe the start time of the last promo was 19:00 UK time, so quite close to your suggestion. Just in case we're not going to be able to push future promos another half an hour later, I hope that an earlier announcement will help you join them.

Having a Poker Stars account already, is there other options to enable tracking for Poker Strategy points at all? Is it only through pokerstars.com ?

Seems a shame to continue for no extra reward.

Yes, unfortunately your account can only be tracked if you created it through PokerStrategy.com. If you did not do that, then sadly PokerStars doesn't allow accounts to be re-tracked. That's against their policies, which is understandable from them from a business point of view.

You still have plenty other rooms to choose from though if you want: Poker rooms

I dont understand how this can be "understandable from a business point of view". "Please play at these other sites instead", which smart business strategy am I missing here?

If there were any competition I would gladly leave Pokerstars for this atitude alone but the other sites just doesnt interest me. The say that Full Tilt is good too but I dont dare to start an account there because I might get in a similar Catch 22-siuation.

Edit: I asked if I could be retracked on Unibet. I was told that I should stay away from their site for at least six months. Again I find it hard to understand this business logic but with this new Unibet poker the sacrifice wont be that hard.

The "problem" is that when an account is tracked, we get part of the rake that that account generates as profit. In other words, PokerStars loses some profit from tracked accounts. With the added benefit of course that we give them an extra stream of new players.

So when users already have an account on PokerStars, there's no added benefit for PokerStars to have the accounts retracked. PokerStars is the largest poker room around, so most players will usually stay there anyway if only for some of the promotions they run. In the long run it would probably cost them more money than it would earn them, so in that sense it certainly is understandable.

Of course we'd love to be able to have all accounts re-tracked! But sadly that's just not doable pretty much because of the above.

Ok. That does make some sense. In the short term Pokerstars will win cause Im giving up hunting strategypoints and will buy my points in the future. At least I can use money I withdraw from my Pokerstars-account to do that as the smallest of revenges.

But I will keep looking for a good alternative.

Right, the key words there are that it's the largest. Almost all non-US players land there sooner or later. I resisted for 5 years of playing poker and 15 months of grinding it seriously, but (fortunately for Pokerstrategy, hehe) I had a WCOOP fame desire and signed up

Smaller poker rooms should place more emphasis on customer retention (increasing their 'lifetime'), so some of them allow retracking of direct signups

That said, I was pretty surprised by how long they 'remember' old accounts. I thought my PKR account, where I had been inactive for over 2 years, was so deadly dormant and closed with the remaining $0.02 donated to a charity and that I'd make a new one with new email, address etc. with no hassle (if I suddenly wanted to, hehe), but no: they've recently emailed me (i.e the inbox tied to my old account) about the rakeback changes! They remember me!

Last month I played a lot of hands on another site to achive gold status. I lost some money and with the bonuses a barely made break-even compared to buying the status. But I had to laugh when I saw how much rake the bastards have made from me. 124$! It actually feels good that Pokerstars didnt get that money.
