Learning Vs Playing

I'd just like to get some thoughts on what would be an effective way to split spare time between studying and improving vs practising at the tables, just as a percentage like 60% -40% or something, because I don't really have any idea how to balance the two.

Thanks.

when you are a beginner study 80% of the time and play 20%
increase the playing all the time as you get better till you play 80% of the time and learn %20.

My suggestion for beginners is always to take the NL Beginner's course.

For each topic in the course, do the course work, then play to gain practice in that topic.

I don't know that I would do hard-and-fast time splits.
When I took the course, some days I didn't play, some days the course part went quickly, and I had more time to play.

I recently started learning and realized quickly that I would benefit a lot more reading and studying than playing. I've pretty much solely been reading and studying for about a month now.

I'm about to start playing and will change to 2:1 playing to learning/studyign ratio.

Well, be sure to get your $50 starting capital.

When you get down to planning your study, you might want to have a look at The quick guide to skyrocketing your (poker) productivity
There is a lot of material in there, but worth more than a read.
Take each section and put it into action.

Good Luck !

Hey everyone!

For a beginner it's better to study more then to play, but in the end most beginners play more then they study, including myself.

I do like the idea of the 60% - 40% ratio! study - play.

Start a day with coaching video or few articles, and play the rest of the day.

If you run bad and feel tilted watch another video.

Do session reviews every 2-3 days.
