Can someone tell me why is ipoker network spending so much internet? When i log in even when i am just looking at lobby my internet is cruising at 1.5Mb/s,but at any other poker room it is only 2 or 3 Kb/s.Thats around 1000 times more on ipoker.

Iwould like to know is this case for you gays too or maybe is something wrong with my comp.
Thanks

Hey sir.

I'm really no expert on this but when i was moving home a year ago i was using a dongle for internet and we would top it up 3Gb at a time and i couldnt play any poker or i would use up all the data in an hour or 2 so maybe all sites are a little heavy on the usage?

If you tell me how i can check how much it uses then i don't mind testing it out for you

Carl

And thats big problem for me because i have money on titan and 770.It was all ok in their old software version but now i have this problem with the new one.And also if i don t play there i don t get any SP as i am tracked on 770.

I'm not sure what to suggest to be honest.

Hmm you could send an email to the tech support of the certain rooms you are playing at and see why its using up so much data or if it's your PC.

Other than that the only thing i can really suggest is to move sites for now :( You can be tracked at more than one poker room by the way. Just because you are tracked on 770 doesn't mean you can't open an account at any other of our partner rooms (as long as it's your first and only account there) in fact you can have an account on every one of our partner rooms and generate Strategy Points from them all if like i say it is your first account and you enter the PokerStrategy.com marketing codes :)

Let us know what the tech support say if you decide to send them an email

I'm sorry to say that you're not the first to experience this problem, yes it is caused by the new ipoker software. Here's what ipoker had to say for themselves (lifted from another forum):

Dear xxxx,

This is Chris from the Titan Poker Support Team.

The poker software has been made more attractive and more appealing for players by adding more visual components which is made so by the design, hence it’s visually better and uses more data.

Thank you.

I suggest moving your roll to another site until you get a fixed broadband connection

Of course, LSD has the same effect, and it uses less bandwidth.

I downloaded and installed poker770 just so I can test this (and because I like to bash on ipoker ) and this is what I concluded:

The client automatically downloads all kind of casino games in the background, and there's 33 (!) different slot games which adds up to a total of 495 MB's of data and that's just slots (videopoker, roulette, blackjack not included).

In total, the client takes up 715 MB's in 5702 files and until that data is not downloaded, it'll obviously jam your bandwidth.

Good thing they updated their FAQ.....

Spoiler

• What is the minimum system requirements to install the Poker770 software?
- Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista or 7.
- Pentium 400MHz or faster. CPU with at least 128MB of RAM.
- Minimum screen resolution 800 by 600 pixels with 16-bit ("High Colour").
- At least 30MB of free disk space.

There is a possibility that with every update more and more files are being downloaded or even redownloaded thanks to ipoker's professionality and cutting edge technology...

In that case you might want to try and limit the download speed of the client with for example NetLimiter.

I would say most of the data is related to casino stuff. I dont know if theres any skin that offers poker only, but you could try deactivate the casino stuff and see if it works. Right now I have william hill open, with cassino stuff deactivated and its not consuming any bandwith.

Guess I'm a little late here lol.... what do you mean 'deactivate' the casino stuff? How do I do this? Bandwidth issues mean I cant play on iPoker very much.

What tool do you use to measure the bandwidth consumed by any single application?

In William Hill -- and I presume other iPoker skins -- under settings, there is a sub-heading "Casino Games" -- I had already had all of them unchecked.

I also have "backbet" unchecked.

I'm curious about measuring bandwidth though -- I'd like to run some tests.

I would have blamed the ads actually.

I think it's a combination of bandwidth usage and slow software.

Similar problems of MG network too - used to crash a rather lot :/
