Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 6♦ 9♦

SB raises to 2 BB, Hero calls 1 BB

Flop: (4 BB, 2 players) 8♦ 3♥ 5♣
Hero checks, SB bets 2.5 BB, Hero calls 2.5 BB

Turn: (9 BB, 2 players) 9♠
Hero checks, SB bets 6 BB, Hero calls 6 BB

River: (21 BB, 2 players) 5♦
Hero checks, SB bets 16 BB

Early on the match, agressive reg, checked back with A high, K high and 2nd-3rd pairs a few times on different boards.

He has 71 value combos then he needs to bluff 30 or more in order to make a call. There's enough busted OESD and gutshots so it all depends on the frequency he bluffs those (Edit: nvm, I frogot about the 9x he may valuebet, if he is valuebetting some 9x its hard for him to have enough hands to bluff on the river, so I guess is an easy fold)

The problem is we dont know his bluffing frequency. In general do you think an agressive villain bluffs enough on this river?
If we are not sure we should take a gto aproach? My range has a bunch of 8x and not many strong hands (I prolly raise 67 and some 2p on the turn/flop), so 9x with a blocker to the straight, top set and top 2p should be a call?

Hi.

9X is top of your range, so call. You are going to have mostly 8X and some 56/57 type of hands.

Anyway you should consider c/r Flop. I think he folds a ton, and with so many overcards in the deck I'd expect him to barrel so much on the Turn.

Thanks.

i don't like the chc F either (even pre calling 69s vs an aggro is doubtfull i think tbh)
You say hes aggro , and then you end up calling to a 4 or 7 outer, with the T almost always bringing an over he can barrel, which isn't a very good plan imo :)

My problem with calling is he can't really expect you to fold with 8x even imo , and therefore it isnt a good bluffing spot for him.
any J/Q/K/A id love to call his bet on , but a 5 is like on of the worst cards in the deck for him to bluf on , and he should expect you to even herocall 8x quite often imo , so dnno if u make the equity you need:)

Not possible to fold 69s to a minraise X(

Given that he was barreling a lot my plan was to c/r many turns to collect more money from his bluffs. But he is probably not bluffing much on turns/rivers that improve our hand (7, 9, 6) so I see the merit of raising the flop when his range is wider than on later streets.

The only problem is that I rep the hand I have (gutshots) and I'd expect him to fight back with any piece of the flop.

@yoshiwa, depends a lot on how he perceives my range here. I have lots of 8x, but at the same time: 3x, A7-A2, some Kx... And we are thinking of folding 9x . I agree that in general is not a river we should expect many bluffs on, but I can see him trying to bluff me of these hands. He was bluffing very exploitative early on the match without worrying too much about balance and what he repped, or if the river was a good card to bluff or not. Then I started to call with A/K and even Q high and he adjusted by betting very thin (like betting thrice 78 on 672JQ). So later on the match this would be a no brainer call because he'd prolly bet every 8x, but I dont think he was betting as thin at the beggining.

It's true that you rep air a lot with a check/raise. But it's balanceable with A8 K8 Q8 etc. And until he proves that he will fight back otherwise, you can just c/r here first. As mentioned, you are at the start of the match, so you want to establish dynamics first.

Preflop: Standard defend for sure vs minraise

Turn: I guess you are playing sets like this a lot when board isn't wet. I think it could be a reasonable plan too.

Yeah I agree, I'm being results oriented, because he fought back on flops like this later, but ofc I didnt know at this time.

Thanks for your time
