Hello Dydukas!

First of all congrats for this nice blog and the evolution of your game.

Im grinding some 3,5 since january, but definetly i'm not having success at this tourney, with a poor ROI of 2,9% in 3,1k games.

I have some experience in poker, most of them in mtts, its the first time that I grind single table, so i have some problems with ICM.

Can you talk me what is the best way to study this game?

Buy Sng Wizard is good?

or there are best options to study about it?

Thank you and GL!

Hi gbettter!

Yeah, SNG Wiz will help you a lot and you definitely need it to study. Or some other ICM calculator like ICMizer.

3k games means that your true ROI could still be in 0-6% range. Keep improving, post some hands to eval forum, find some mates to study together if that helps you better.

Goodluck!

That's a good question. There are two kinds of ICM calculators. Those who just calculate ICM for 1 hand and those who look into future a bit to see what will happen 1-2 hands later. Basic calculator would be SNG Wiz, ICMizer. Those for advanced - HoldEm Resources calculator, SNG Solver.

Anyway for first levels of hypers all you need is basic ICM. It's enough work to learn it and enough to beat low stakes. At higher stakes where edges are smaller you can start to worry about blind increases, future position, etc.

hey, good to see someone winning in hypers. (trying to get there myself :))
two quick questions.

a) do you ever get onto the SNG leaderboards or is it pretty impossible for 6max hyper players? i had some pretty lucky sessions 40+ games with 50% itm and im not even close to the top 100...

b) do you use HM1 ? if so does your ev line work? bc mine doesnt. and i have the "newest" version.

Hey qnb07,

1. I used to get there a lot on $3.5s. Even had top 3 once on the high orbit. Now I run a bit worse but still get close to money. Just need a good run. I see a lot of fellow regs on high orbit and some times at low orbit.

2. Yes, I use 1.12.10b and it works fine. May not be very accurate but it works.

Gl :)

I only played 40 games this week. Was so sick with flue and high temperature I think I received brain damage. Feels like I forgot the basic ranges and some situations look totally new to me :f_frown:

Anyway I prepared some of my own material so I can study repeatedly. It's like a sport and practise + repetition is the key I guess.

Hey Dydukas, been reading your blog for a while now and had few questions...

I play $3.5 6-max hypers on stars but I just can't seem to get the EV positive, I'm break-even at most, probably. I review spots with SNG Wiz and have reasonable understanding of ranges but still no results really.

So I was wondering if you ever had aha moments, which had a tremendous impact on on your EV...? This questions is really hard to phrase... Or what +EV spots do you think people are losing out on in general?

Thanks to you I realised I can shove over limpers wider for one =) Many limp/call stuff like Q7o with 11bb effective stacks

Thanks guys for the good words. :)

@MikaIV I didn't really have those aha moments. To be honest this is quite a boring game. You just need to practice and try to put a lot of volume. I guess your EV problem is related to volume too. You need at least 10-20k games to see where you're going.

@99PROBLEMSS I'm experimenting with my HUD now. But generally all you need is standard PFR/VPIP + steal/fold to steal stats. Maybe + limp/fold, etc.

Hi, nice blog. I think I owe U about 3k chips in HUs. I agree sometimes this games have high variance and I am running about 100k chips above EV in HUs ( actual winnings has to be about 310k chips after 60k hands), but believe me I would like to change those EV chips to the point there are 5 players left, because thats there I am running about 100k chips below EV. And I think with all those chips at the start I could be winning be more at the bubble and HUs. Good luck at the tables:)

@baisuoklis Hi :) I guess I owe you some 3 handed cause that's where I run good. Anyway it all should even out. Are you planning on moving to 15s any time soon? :P

February was boring month pokerwise. I was only able to put 43h in. Low volume, low ROI. Still $10/h which is ok for $7s.

Might be :) I might move up, but we will see ( just because I am studying a lot of cash and tournaments games ), I am still able to make at 7$ about 0.55$ per table ( mine sample is about 16k games, but Usually I am only 4tabling, because it helps to kill regs :) ) without variance and I am not sure how big roi I can have at 15$ Hypers.
