Thanks Laz! Will post the update on Sunday night. If I don't bust my BR til then.

$3k is very aggressive even though I'm playing $30s mostly. If I bust I'll reload and enter 2nd time after 4 weeks.

Week 1 of the challenge done. Not a great start but at least I didn't bust in the first week. +30 BI at $30s, -30 at $100s. Would've been better if it was the other way around. And even better if I somehow could finish higher than 3rd next weeks. :f_confused:

Anyways - graph and numbers. I'll keep adding future games to that graph.

Winnings: -$1,756.06
RB/Bonuses: $1,600.00

Total: -$156.06

BR: $2,843.94
Goal remaining: $12,156.06

Graph looks okeyish, but in $ it's half of my starting BR under EV. Whatever, better luck next week. Time for a beer :f_drink:

Hello blog!

Start of the Week 3 wasn't kind and I completely shut down after 2nd day where I went 40 BI under EV in 180 games. No whining about the result but more about my mentality to quit playing and take pauses after each little misstep. I then spend endless time studying, remaking my charts and HUD to almost identical ones, forgetting to follow them again, etc. And since 6 max hypers are more about volume I'm probably one of the least productive regs there. I also tend to ignore everything that goes postflop cause "hypers are all about preflop" presumably. I donno, maybe I just haven't found effective way or software to study that for myself.

I think it's very important to only look at graphs in BIs when you mix stakes which vary more than 3x in $. So I spent a few hours relearning how to make PT4 custom stats. Made this one neat EV in BI stat so I can show a bit nicer PT4 EV graphs in BIs. HEM2 EV is slightly off and I believe PT4 shows a bit more accurate. For reference, in big samples HEM2 shows between 0-0.5% better EV than real which I suppose PT4 is almost accurate. Of course "big sample" and "accurate" are arguable and 0.5% interval is also huge for -1 to 2% ROI games.

So about results. Only played 261 games. I'll add them to my whole challenge graph.

Week 3
Tourneys: 261
Profit/loss: -$1,420.08

Overall:
Profit/loss: -$1,817.20
RB/Bonuses: $1,600
BR starting/current/goal: $3,000 / $2,782.80 / $15,000

Kinda back to beginning with the winnings but these are just small swings for hypers while RB is piling up. Anyway my goal is also to beat the games and not rely on that.

I should just play in the mornings. This also clearly resembles my productivity throughout the day. I love grinding in mornings, my first sleepy wave comes at around 2-3 pm and I hate playing in evenings.

Week 4 quick update

Tourneys: 942
Profit/loss: -$2,309.68

Overall:
Profit/loss: -$4,126.88
RB/Bonuses: $1,600
BR starting/current/goal: $3,000 / $473.12 / $15,000

Looks better in BIs than $, doesn't it... Actually everything's going fine except $5k under EV on 100s. If I manage not to bust next I'll get some bonuses to revive the BR a bit.

Seems like winnings in 30s and rakeback is not enough to withstand a little run bad in 100s. Busted the challenge in week 5.

CBA to calculate exact result. Will just post whole challenge graph

Aaand that's it.

Hey. I thought no one reads this haha. Yeah, I will continue to play just like before. This isn't a big downswing in comparison to what could happen at hypers and I'm still beating all those stakes in the long run. Just wanted to create some kind of money challenge. Turning $3k into 15k looked best. I'm already reloaded, could make this $6k to 30k or whatever but it would take too long.

As for you and other beginners, basically if you wanna make 1$/game then you can achieve that pretty fast if you get coached and work hard. Above that and SNEs is harder, you either need super good volume or comfortably play $200+ stakes. Hypers aren't for anyone, games are tougher than ever and variance hits you when you least expect.. but there's still money to be made. If you like them and decide to work hard, they'll reward you sooner or later. At first focus on learning Nash ranges for every position, stack sizes and set ups, players left, etc. There's hundreds of situations to learn. Make some basic charts yourself. Study how ranges deviate when stacks set ups change. Just playing TAG in t20-30 and later push/fold by Nash should make you a solid winner in micro stakes. Good luck to you too!

Black member!

Can't believe I started this blog 8 years ago. It took me 8 years to get to Black Member. How much poker has changed since then... What was a mostly friendly community of enthusiasts has become an overly competitive, money driven hell. But I'm still battling, trying to get my deserved share, still playing the same games I started with. I wonder where in a different, ordinary career I'd be now. Anyway, let's raise a glass to being black member and continue doubling up the nils!
